I think I really flat-spotted these tires...

No, Really.....

I just got my nitrogen setup working and was wondering if the schrader valve on a typical valve stem was good for vacuum too.

I "rented" a vacuum pump from AutoZone and used an old R12 refill hose coupled to an air tank fitting (bicycle pump type) to connect to the rim.

The pump 1/3HP was able to pull 11 inHg after about a minute of pumping. The valve held and I was the proud owner of a pentagon shaped Toyo RA1.

I guess it's now ready for the nitrogen? Since I pulled vacuum, I don't believe I need to do the fill/purge/fill/purge/fill.... routine, right?

if looking for your own cheapo pump for future use you might try

powered by your shop compressor.

I've done the nitrogen thing from the get-go.
I just run them to 20psi and purge it, then refill.
I hope the steel in those tires don't remember what you put them through.
Also, bottled nitrogen isn't completely dry.
Fixing that might be more important.

How do you dry compressed nitrogen? I thought the whole purpose of getting nitrogen was to have 100% dry gas. Now, if the bottle was outside in the rain, or submerged underwater prior to filling, I agree it could have a little retained moisture.

Sorry Marshall.
Proprietary machine I prototyped and presently seeking a patent on.
The 1st one cost me about $1100 in parts alone.
Maybe in the very near future I can share.
