Maybe this one will really happen?

Yup!

I have been working with these guys for about two years on this project.

I took Chris Marvel and Corey Rueth out there with the owner a few months back for a drive around the track.
The three of us all got a T-shirt, 'I survived H2R'

This one is really happening, the only drawback is that there will not be any racing going on there for awhile... just street legal cars for now.

DD

P.S. I hear the track layout is World Class and everyone should hire the track designer for there track designs!!! :D

No racing? Why?

Sound restrictions

That's one of a few reasons... but really the sound will not be any louder than MSRC...

I will not go into all the detals as I'm not sure they want them all known publicly...

Time will tell, racing might happen some day but not anytime soon.

I just looked at the prices. They are broke already if they think people will pay a membership fee plus $90.00 per month plus $200 for a week day and $300.00 for a weekend day. Just the one weekend day is more that two days with TDE!

NO! They are not broke...

They are limiting the total number of memberships, and the proforma has been setup like that for a reason.

Wow!

Time will tell.

You have no idea what you are talking about with this project.

I am have been active in this project for two years. I designed the track and have a great relationship with the owners.

I would appreciate you reframing from making these negative comments on this project in which you know nothing about.

That pricing is crazy regardless of their financial situation though.

Your right David I don't know anything about it. I'm sure you did a great job on the track design. I just don't see how they can charge members twice what a non member would pay anywhere else. As I said I could be wrong. I have been many times but I certainly have the right to express my opinion.
It was not my intention to offend anyone.

The pricing is high and too rich for my budget, I agree... but that is not why I responded.

I responded becuase of his statements "They are broke already" and "Time will tell."

Making commnets like that when you don't know anything about the project development or the owners is just a bit over the top.

************************************************

If its to rich for your budget, its okay to make comments about the pricing that is fine, but to make a assumptive statements like " They are already broke" because it's too expensive for you... that is just wrong!

If you want to be respected keep your comments respectful!

JJ, its all good... I just don't want anyone to get the wrong impression!
Many tracks have come and gone... 95% of those never moved a grain of sand... this one is moving along, its happening and they have stayed on target of there intended demographic.

Its not for everyone... I have talked to them many times about the cost, and told them it excludes me from having fun there... We are not really their target membership base.

The Austin Dot Com boom coming back?

donovan
10-25-2007, 06:06 PM
From a development stand point it only went away for a couple years... We have seen crazy growth for the past four years around here...

People have been a little cautious, but my company has doubled in size over the last four years... from about 100 employees to just over 210 in Austin.

We have offices in Dallas, Houston and SA... Austin has out passed the other office by 60-70% over the last 4 years... Crazy!!!

Pavement is down, track is almost done...

I'm headed out there sometime in the next week for some hot laps! I just need to work it in my schedule. The owners said that it turned out awesome and have had a few friends out already to test it out.

Video of a lap around the track:

I guess its official, I'm actaully a track designer now! I have designed a few, this is the first one to actually get pavement!

Looks cool but are any plans for clubs such as PCA, BMW or TDE to hold events there? $300 per day for fri, sat or sun for members plus monthly and yearly fees?

donovan
12-12-2007, 05:53 PM
Yeah, I know its not cheap... currently it a members only track.

They might consider opening it up later, but they are set on keeping it a members only track for now.

Currently this is the only track that is near us, the nearest track is TWS and it take me almost two hrs to get there.

I'm sure it sounds expensive to guys who have two or three track within 45 minutes... Houston and Dallas... Its almost two hrs to TWS and four hrs to MSRH or MSRC for us here in central Texas... its really not that bad of a deal for us in my opinion.

Before Eagles Canyon opened the next closest track to me is MSRC (80 miles). Next is TWS at 2.5 hrs then Hallett.

I am no expert but I see them getting into trouble after a while. When the wave of new members dies down and they start opening it up to clubs members will start to wonder why they are paying $600 for a weekend when clubs who rent it charge ~$300.

When MSRC opened they too had plans for only members, economics changed that. I think EC had the foresight to open it up to clubs right off the bat. Whet better way to get members than having them drive the track with a club and them join the track.

Jeff, I will see what I can do...

How has a street car we can do some test laps in?
I sold my street car last week, so I don't have anything but the F350... :(

I would love to drive a few laps but just don't have anything...

I wasn't trying to get you in trouble or burn your favors, but I have a C5 Z06 that I think I could be convinced to use :D

It is about to be for sale I think, that could be your test drive ;)

If nothing else, I'd just like to see the track first hand.
