Richard Pedersen......

Do I remember correctly that you have a bonafide fender lip roller? Is it available for loan?

Give me a call when you get the chance 281-413-1948

Jeff Burch has it currently. Robert King wanted to borrow it also. It's not hard to use and could easily be done at the track. You three (and whoever else wants it) fight over it and get it back to me when you're done... :)

Unfortunatley, my need for it will be in Houston after the event on another car. If the others get through with it over the weekend, I will gladly carry it back to Houston for you.

I would like to use it back home also. Fender rub was reason for black flags the last time out in the Mustang. Rob, get that thing back to Tomball and I will take it back to Richard, ASAP.

David,
Touch base with me at the track regarding your rubbing issue on the Mustang (assuming it's in the front).
Marshall showed me a trick he learned from RP to get more clearance on the front fender that worked great.

Here is what I have done to the fenders on my '89 Mustang to fit the 72.5" track width that AI allows. I am running the following front suspension:

1. SN-95 arms
2. 96+ spindles
3. 17x9.5" rims on a 6.0" back spacing
4. 275/40's of course.

1. Cut and roll the inner fender lips.
No Picture required... I hope

2. Place a "stretcher bar" between the lower forward wheelwell opening and the frame. I used 1" aluminum tube from Home Depot. I crushed it on both end and drilled the hole to mount to the frame rail and fender. I pulled until I heard fiberglass from the fender extensions start to crack. I probably got 2.5" of "stretch".

3. Re-drill the upper fender to engine bay holes in the fender. This will give approx 1/4" more room at the top of the fender. It does throw off your hood to fender gaps... but hey, it's a race car right?

4. Redrill the lower rear fender mounting hole approx 1.5" rearward on the fender itself.

5. Redrill the unibody attachment point hole approx 1.5" forward.

6. Use a longer bolt to catch the nutclip and put a 1" spacer at the bottom of the fender. This will also help vent high-pressure air from the fenderwell.

At the end, you end up with a fair bit of clearance. For reference, this shot is with approx 2.5 degrees of camber. The car is a little too high because I don't have heads on the car right now.

The FLR is now back in the hands of it's owner.
RK was a no show.
Dunno if RP lent it out after that.
I'm outta the loop.

Thanks again Richard!

I have it in. Tomball, Texas. David Love, I will not be using it for a while, call me if you want to use it sooner rather than later. 281-413-1948.

David...just checking on my engine hoist.
I'm in no hurry for it but just wanted to make sure it is still with you and inside somewhere.

If you're going to rendezvous for the roller, perhaps I'll meet you guys and get the lift at the same time.

Ol' leaky is no leaky... I replaced some o rings and it is nice and comfy in a climate controled shop. I would like to use it again in the next few months to pull 455 motor out of Jason's 72 Cutlass supreme convertible, but I'll take it anywhere you want in the mean time.

No problem, David.
I don't need it...keep it as long as you do.
I just wanted to make sure it wasn't in your way and that it wasn't sitting outside anywhere.

I'm in no hurry to disassemble it and huff it up to my attic again.
