Is anyone planning on going to TWS this coming weekend?

I was planning on coming out this Sunday with my Dad, but he can't make it. I will probably just wait until the December event, unless a party breaks out there this Sunday.

Morgan, Jerry, Corey??? It would be a good time for tuning and maybe some cross platform evaluations.

I'm 80% sure I want to go but only 50% sure I'll make it. If I do, due to other schedules, it probably would be saturday only. I'd prefer sunday but saturday might work out better this time around. If I don't make it this weekend, then December is a consideration.

Where can I find the registration info for this event?

I'm thinking Dec. with MSC or TDE either one. TWS or MSRC. I like MSRC better but it's a longer drive. Jay and I both need a lot of seat time if we are ever going to run with the big dogs.

well, shucks. I'll post-pone to december as well, as long as the weather is nice. I usually like to do Sunday only, but it depends on what else is going on around that weekend. I was planning on pulling the plate and running Wide-Open, but if everyone else is in CMC trim then I guess it could stay in for the day

I just talked to Rick with TDE. The TWS web site shows TDE at TWS Dec. 8th and 9th. THIS IS WRONG! TDE will be at MSRC on those dates. TWS shows to have motorsport club on Dec.15th and 16th. I will go to either one but I prefer MSRC. I would like us all get together so I can learn some more from running with you guys. As I said, I like Cresson more than TWS but I will go to either one. TWS is about 40 miles closer for me though. Let's all get together and make a weekend out of it. Maybe we can get a discount from Rick if we get five or ten of us?

FINE! its probably less than 1/4" but I'm not gonna reuse it.
ingredients:
20-ton shop press
oversized 'problem solver' ball joint
couple extra doses of anger.
yes, its very easy to distort the inner portion of the stock 4th gen ball joint socket if not properly supported.... which is difficult to do in itself.
just don't get the problem solver ball joints.
and NO, I don't want to hear how you've done it X number of times with such and such method and got it right. move along, nothing to see.

I started this thread so, I'm going to try to bring it back on track (no pun intended).

How about a headcount for this weekend at TWS Motorsport Club and which day or days are you planning on attending.

I am on the fence again as my Dad can't make it - still recovering from back surgery - but may still make it out on Sunday. I give it a 20% chance right now.

Misty - what is the sign up procedure and costs? Also, the question has been asked of me as to how the event is structured, how much run time, is wheel to wheel running ok, passengers, start time, etc. Can you fill in some details please.

For you knuckleheads thinking about going, sound off and let the rest of the knuckleheads know what your plans are.

I'm off to sweet-talk my wife into letting me come out Sunday. Wish me luck.

Her best friend's 50th birthday party is this weekend in California. With buddy pass in hand, she's considering a last minute getaway leaving me with the kids.

If she goes...I'll show up with the kids one of the days.
If she doesn't go...I'll help Misty instruct.

D-Day tomorrow hopefully.

You better wait for the NTSB report from Morgan.
(I think he was goin' for a different TWS track record.)  8)

Robert blew out a shock and was done.

Misty's new aero package looks awesome.

Troy's car ran great and he's hooked.

The track looks great under new ownership. Everything's been pressure washed...all the bleachers, walls, concrete areas, bathrooms, etc. All the landscape has been mowed and it makes a difference. Even the area above the tunnel is "groomed" with a nice logo above in the grass. Subtle improvements make a big difference...and Misty pointed out some other areas that will prove that a shave & a haircut can make a big difference. I guess fresh paint is next. Very encouraging.

The car ran good, but I was having a problem with the oil pressure at the end of the session as it would start off at 60psi and by the end it was at or below 40psi under load. Dont know if it the oil is getting to hot and thinning out or what. Misty and Robert both said that I should probably run 15w50 instead of the 10w30 mobil that I have in the car. Other than that, I had a good time in the car and it did good for something that I bought and took straight out to the track, but still got a few bugs to work out of it.

Rob Liebbe, It was good to meet you and I am sure I will be seeing you more events.

Robert, thanks for all the help and I will call you later in the week.

michaelmosty

Troy, I run 20W-50 AmsOil and my oil pressure is always right around 40. It sounds like yours should be in pretty good shape.

Adam Ginsberg
12-17-2007, 09:50 AM
FWIW, the previous owner of my car ran 50w Valvoline Racing Oil, and insisted I continue to run it. After trying at least 3 different oil viscosities, I went back to 50w Valvoline, and refuse to try anything else. It gets changed every other event, or every ~4-5 hours of track time.

~70psi at startup, ~60psi after a full weekend of racing, regardless of ambient temps ( ie - summer racing ). It's a few bucks more than some other brands, but it's been worth it.

running Mobil 1 0w30 in my car...manual dictates 5w20 and we have to run thinner oil for the lifters but my mechanical guage shows 100psi at startup and 50-60 during the event. Pressure can spike to 120 or more when it's cold. These mod motors generate a TON of oil pressure!

Sorry to hear that Morgan...one reason my car doesn't see too many NON-Race events any more. They haven't been kind to me...two motors..one at mid america in 06 and then another due to missed gear at a DE for SCMC in november 06... If I do one now days, I try to stay at 80% or so...no reason to goober up more stuff and have to work on it.

oil temps I have one sensor in the pan and one in the block above the filter (after the cooler).
just flip a switch to toggle between the two for the guage, get all the information you want. extra sensor was only $10 + wiring.
