2007 Year End Activities & 5th Annual Texas AI/CMC Banquet

Another Texas AI/CMC racing season is in the record books! We can all take a breather, look over our cars and anticipate the holiday season. True to our traditions, your series directors met this evening to further our plans to recognize our season’ drivers and champions, as well as prepare for the 2008 racing season.

Lots going on and it’s great to be able to spread the duties among Al, David, Glenn & myself. We’ve got a long to-do list and will be involving many of you along the way to help us plan for a proper get-together, celebration and new racing season.

In no particular order, here are some details and working items to keep you in the loop:

**2007 CMC Nationals Speedcast- Todd has been working with the executive producers at Speedcast to assist with the CMC Nationals race commentary. Final voiceovers and filming was to occur late week and the Speedcast footage should be available this week at www.nasachampionships.com

**National CMC Trophy- Given that we’ve brought the CMC National Championship back home to Texas, it only seemed fitting that we design & build a National Championship perpetual trophy. This trophy which we Texans have commissioned will be presented to the CMC national champion now, and for future years, to bring home to his/her respective region. Al is taking the lead on this project and the trophy will be unveiled and presented to Mr. Burch at the banquet.

**5th Annual Texas AI/CMC Meeting & Banquet- Todd is taking the lead and has tentatively scheduled this event for Saturday nite, January 12th at Speedzone in Dallas. Many have expressed their disappointment that we had to cancel last year’s festivities due to mother nature, so this year we’ll try again. (Speedzone has confirmed that they still have our booking reservation on file from last year…So…Same routine for food, drink, karting, awards, roasting and 2007 Texas AI/CMC Season- World Premiere Video.

**2007 Texas AI/CMC Season World Premiere Video- Once again we’ll graphically & musically recap our 2007 racing season for the entire world to see. David from Donovan Productions is already hard at work searching, seeking, editing and mixing. If you haven’t done so already, be sure to provide David with your in-car highlights, photos and funnies from the season. In typical fashion, the World Premiere will be held at our banquet. You will have to attend to be one of the first to see the final product!!! Friends & family of Texas AI/CMC all invited.

**Texas AI/CMC Swag- It’s awesome to see prior year Texas AI/CMC shirts in the paddock and at our driver meetings. This year, we’re going to add a new twist on things and be able to provide Texas AI/CMC season T-shirts AND posters (suitable for framing) with matching graphics. T-shirts fade and get holy, but posters last forever! Glenn is taking the lead on these and without giving too much away, we will see these at the banquet.

**2008 AI/CMC Race Season- The new race season will be here before we know it. It seems like a long way away, but it’s about 3 months from today. That’s a brief break!!! In the meantime, NASA Texas officials and your AI/CMC series directors will be working on process high-grades and administrative upgrades from this year, all in the name of Continuous Improvement! So stay tuned and we’ll be sure to cover it all at the banquet!!!

**Series Growth- I anticipate 2008 to be one of our biggest years to date. Many of our regular racers took much of 2007 off for one reason or another and will likely return in 2008 to bid for the championship. In addition, the number of newcomers at season-end was higher than I have ever seen in Texas AI/CMC!!! Many probably aren’t aware of it but there were 5 new AI/CMC rookies at the Round 6 with their cars, in preparation for the 2008 racing season. On top of that, I spoke with 4 candidates who stated they either had car preparations underway to come race in AI/CMC, or that this was something they definitely were now going to commit to. (FYI…one of those 9 newbies introduced himself as “the 2008 CMC rookie of the year”.) These are only some of the folks that came to our Round 6 event to check out the action, there are others out there!!!

We’ve got a number of surprises up our sleeves for the 2007 celebrations as well and don’t want to give everything away. Rest assured, Texas AI/CMC continues to grow and thrive! We’ll celebrate our past and plan for our future in the coming months, but in the meantime, read those new rules and get your racecars ready!!!

Respectfully,
Your Texas AI/CMC Series Directors
