With all the administrative banquet items underway, Al & I decided to take Wednesday off (while all of you were at work  ) to hone our karting skills in preparaton for the 5th Annual Banquet on January 12 at Speedzone (www.speedzone.com) in Dallas.

A close family friend of Al's from Europe was in town for the holidays. He has done quite a lot of coaching with other drivers in the past. (Some of you might of heard of Flavio Briatore.)

In any case, Flavio, Al & I took to the track in equally prepared shifter karts in preparation for this year's celebration (and to kick some AI/CMC butt in karting!)

Unfamiliar with F1-like power/weight/g-forces, at first, Al skidded off the track trying to outbrake...I took out a number of cones trying to put the power down on corner exit...but at the end of the day, thanks to Flavio and a day at the track, we were able to maximize our first training day in the karts in preparation of the big event on Jan. 12.

Mr. Briatore has engagements on Jan. 12th and can't make our event, but he assures us that we're the fastest drivers he's ever coached...and wished he could see us smoke the field of drivers. I can't wait.

It's at nite.
MSC is during the day.
If you can't make it we'll need to videotape one of those impersonal trophy acceptance speeches for your AI ROTY award.

Please try to make it...it's a once a year occasion and you're part of "the show".

Ohhhhhh! It's at night...in Dallas. And MSC is during the day...in College Station!

Well, there's no conflict then. I'll just have my Gulfstream V fueled and waiting at Easterwood and tell my pilot to be ready to go when I arrive. Anyone know the # of a good limo company? And no cheap limo either. I wanna a stretch Humvee with 22" spinners and neon.

I'll do my best. Can't take away y'all's opportunity to roast me and I've been looking forward to the banquet and karting.

BTW, little bit of trivia...In 2007, what female NASA TX racer took a podium in 2 classes for the season and got ROTY in one, all while being slow as hell on track?

Keys to success from the "Dale" documentary:

1) Show up.
2) Be on time.
3) Have your game face on.

...everything else will just fall in place (and it did!!!)

Glenn told me he's hoping you don't go so that he can go to the podium twice as many times and get twice as many trophies. :?

As of 2 years ago, the standing record for the Grand Prix cars was established by a 120lb, 17 year old chinese kid. I, at 240lbs got within .1 of second of the record in less than 10 laps. supposedly that kid had been there ALL DAY.

Todd, Speedzone packages typically include free time on the slick track and "speed" track in the slow go carts. Any chance we can add on Grand Prix laps at a group discount rate? They are usually like $3/lap....but they are TONS of fun!
