As Todd mention here (http://www.aicmctexas.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=130), the "New Norm" is already taking effect.

After this past weekend, we discussed the issues raised during the Saturday and Sunday driver meetings with Clifton.

As so many of you have mentioned, the CCR is our guide, and we need to maintain consistency. Consistency is the key.

Thanks to all of our drivers for their valuable input this past weekend. We did hear you.

Here is the "New Norm", as per NASA Texas Race Director, Clifton Winkleman:

1. The CCR - WILL BE our bible going forward for incident assessment, review, and if necessary, penalties. Previous incidents will be considered, as well as mitigating circumstances, however, the CCR will be our guide.

2. On-track incidents - if a pattern of aggression is observed by the corner workers/Race Control/Race Director, the Race Director, at his discretion, can black flag one, or all vehicles involved for a stop and go penalty, or removal from the race ( Section 21.1 and 27.13 ). We've NEVER had this problem in AI/CMC, and don't forsee it happening in the near future. If there is an incident with contact, vehicles with body damage or reported to have contact from the corner workers will be marked by the Race Director or Chief Steward with a large X on the windshield in shoe polish. It is MANDATORY for that/those driver(s) to report to race control to fill out contact and/or protest paperwork. Failure to report to race control may result in further penalties. If contact is reported by the Corner Workers but there was no contact between cars (Miata example given in the Sunday drivers meeting) each reported driver will still be required to fill out the Body Contact form stating there was no contact.

3. IRB's - will be used as per the CCR ( section 25.4.5 and 27.2 ) for each incident with paperwork. Appeal of the IRB is the right of each driver, as per the CCR, to be taken up with the Race Director, as he is not a member of the IRB. If no appeal is filed with the Race Director, the IRB's decision will be final. If an appeal is filed, and a decision is handed down from the Race Director, that decision will be final.

4. Driver points system - will be used going forward as per the CCR ( section 27.12 ). The series director(s) will maintain a booklet containing a profile of each driver, and any/all points accumulated via penalties/incidents, and will review that booklet with the Race Director prior to the start of each event, and at the end of each event. While the Driver Points System is clearly a NASA Texas issue, we are assisting them in this endeavor. Since we are implementing this now, all drivers are at ZERO points, and we hope to keep it that way.

5. Overly aggressive driving - will be kept in check via the corner workers and the Race Director/Race Control. A furled black flag will be pointed at the offending driver as a reminder to maintain proper control over the vehicle. Repeated offenses during a race can and may result in a black flag for a stop and go, or to remove the competitor from the race.

6. Respect for officials and other competitors - will be maintained at all times. This goes for Race Officials, NASA Officials, competitors, as well as Series Directors. ( Section 23.0, subsections 23.1, 23.1.1, and 23.1.2 )

7. All competitors must wash the vehicles of the corner workers, as well as the Race Director. Or anyone the Race Director so chooses. ;)

Ok, #7 was Clifton's idea.
