Team Shelby has been invited to participate in this event with SVTOA.

Come and enjoy your car at the famous Texas World Speedway. Built in 1969 and is one of only seven Super Speedways of two miles or greater in the , the others being Indianapolis, Daytona, Pocono, Talledega, California, and Michigan . Thus, TWS is the only Super Speedway in the Southwest. It's replacement cost is about $30 million.

The two mile high banked oval became known as "The Worlds Fastest Speedway" when Mario Andretti set a world closed course speed record of 214.158 mph on October 6, 1973 while qualifying for an Indy car race. That record stood in the Guinness Book of World Records for twelve years. Since then many Indy cars have tested at unofficial speeds of 238 mph. Over the years, TWS has been the site of numerous Indy car, stock car, motorcycle, truck, and sports car races including the TEXAS 500, LONE STAR 500, BUDWEISER/NASCAR 400, TEXAS GRAND PRIX, TEXAS RACE OF CHAMPIONS, TEXAS 200, ARCA/WINSTON WEST 500, the TEXAS WORLD GRAND PRIX, EXXON SUPERFLO 500, and other events sanctioned by United States Auto Club, NASCAR, ARCA, Sports Car Club of America, the American Motorcycle Association, WERA, IMSA, and other racing organizations

Jeff Lacina, SVTOA’s lead driving instructor and his team of instructors will be at the track to help everyone get up to speed. You're saying, 'I've never done this before.' Don't worry, we all had to start somewhere and what better opportunity is there than learning with a professional instructor sitting next to you and driving with your fellow SVT owners? You learn at your own pace... with plenty of time on the track. The challenging 2.9 mile road course is safe and fast. Great for both the novice and the experienced open tracker.

So ask yourself, "Do I want to put a smile on my face?" Well, we think the answer is YES! To accomplish this goal, all you need to do is register for this event. We'll guarantee that you leave with a big smile... no matter what your driving ability is when you arrive on Saturday.

The fun begins Friday night at the Meet ‘n Greet. There will be a special raffle held for only those people who register and tech there cars Friday night. We will also be serving snacks and soda throughout the evening. We will conduct a special class for those who attending a track event for the first time.

I don't know why Wayne would dyno his CMC car since most of the CMC drivers already know the car was making 50 extra H/P back at Hallett in 05. So 280/340 sounds about right. Wayne can ask about anyone.......they will tell him. Why waste the dyno money? How the hell else would he have put two seconds on the rest of the field?

I've never heard any such claims that Mr. Manor's car was ever over HP or under HP. The issue in '05 was that there was no dyno sheet at all.

This is the same scenario that Mr. Brady Flaherty was faced with at the last West Coast race, and they are going thru some drama right now. Brady's a seasoned racer and a very good one at that. No-one believes that he's over HP or pushing over the rules, he just didn't have the required documentation to prove it. Simple as that. Without a dyno sheet, it's not valid.

So...Let's not rehash this...it's ancient history. Wayne's a great guy and I look forward to a fun weekend at the track. If anyone is looking for drama, go read the main CMC forum for the most recent "no dyno sheet" saga and simply change the names in your mind to protect the innocent. Don't bring this dirty laundry back to Texas!

Todd,

No drama but no shit I was told by at least three (and maybe four) that Waynes car was 50 over on H/P. I don't know where that number came from, I just thought it was funny that the number was 50 over. I can assure you Wayne could care less what anyone thinks about it. It's old B/S. To me it was like playing the gossip game.....story keeps getting bigger and bigger every time it's told.

well Jerry, your the only person I've ever seen mention it.
the only thing I know w/ WM's CMC car at Hallett was he laid an awesome time down in qual and wasn't able to back it up in the next race. he also didn't show up w/ a dyno sheet, but I'm sure those in charge at the time already had plans to seal the hood.

as for whoever told you, if they really believed it, they would have the sack to repeat it here or fess up that they said it.

I don't believe for a second he had extra HP. he knows Hallett like no other and he can drive. that along w/ someone who i envy w/ regards to ability to set-up a car, and i have no problem believing he ran that time in CMC trim.
I'd love to see Wayne back for no other reason than to set the bar one more notch higher.

so w/ the fact that your the only one I've heard this from, and that it was close to 4 years ago, lets just let this go and forget about it.

I would still like for Wirtz to share his short cut secret at Cresson! ;) Maybe he figured out that the corner workers are constantly watching Ginsberg for a spin and figured a way to cut across the track while they were distracted?!

I am kidding folks!!!!! Lighten the hell up around here already!

I just realized that Matt is not going to know how to do this.
Will there be an interpreter or sign language available at this event to communicate to Matt that "it's an exhibition race"?

Gee Todd, why don't you imagine a "W" and read between the lines...

Given my history with "exhibition races"...I don't plan on beating on the car too hard this weekend. Mostly going to work on tuning a few key corners with the new setup and concentrate on bringing the car home in one piece and learning the CW track layout for August.

Oh, and at least I have a RACE CAR to bring to the event!

He got ya there Todd.

I was in my first race in Houston last year in June. I have NEVER seen Todd's car. Are we sure he still has one? I bet the longer he's gone the faster he gets.

Yes. I have a race car.
No. It's not done.
No. You can't have my Toyos...I need them to whoop all you guys on in the enduro. (racecar TBD)

TWS was a blast yesterday for the SVTOA event.
I brought the Super Focus and romped on the car to instruct other Foci owners and GT500 drivers. (Unable to return today due to work/family obligations.)

Former Jesse Jame's Monster Garage "Hot Rod Lincoln" was there. (700 HP 60's Lincoln Continental on a stockcar chassis. Flat black with flames. Bad Ass.)

Usual suspects were there and great group of folks.
Chris Lyons really stepped up his game and was giving Matt White a serious run everywhere. Bud's got some new AI mods to his car and hope to see him run with us soon. JG's car looked great with some new paintwork, however had some mild engine troubles. Wayne was busy with event duties to drive anything. Joe Johnson ran his Cobra R and had some very nice students....and the host of open-trackers had fun.

Yeah, Chris and I were playing the draft on the front straight...I think he said if felt like driving behind a UPS truck! LOL!

Oh, and JG's "engine troubles" was just an excuse to not get whooped by me in the exhibition event since he was an event sponsor! ;)

We had interpreters there and sign lanquage pros but nothing could prevent Matt White from getting black flagged for over-aggressive driving in non-racing Group 4.

So how did the exhibition race go?
Pass & be passed or did Matt take off and go?

It was pass and be passed, lead swapped 5 or 6 times in the closing laps where fans could see. Chris and I had a lot of side by side fun, JG was in Joe's R, last 4 turns were a free for all...

As for the black flag, I was signaled by from a group 4 miata going into the carousel by a good student who knew to watch his mirrors and did a great job. Not my fault I run at mach 1 and this guy was barely breaking wind!

Should have stuck around Todd, had several rain sessions on Sunday!
