This past weekend, I raced here in SoCal again ( 2 tracks within a 2.5 hour drive! ).

I haven't driven WSIR since 2004.....and it is one damn fast track. Turn out in CMC and CMC2 was relatively light. 7 CMC2 cars and 6 CMC machines.

Weather was very good, if a bit windy. Mid-60's all day Sat and Sun, dropping to the high 40's at night.

A P2 qual position for the race start looked good (only .6 off the pole), but I fell back a few spots, and finished 4th. Held off Derek in a 3rd gen with a damn near photo finish (video links below). The T9 incident was weighing on my mind a bit.

Sunday didn't go much better. Could only manage a 4th in the qual race, but the top 4 CMC cars were all within .3 of each other (pole sitter put down a 1:37.2, P2 1:37.3, P3 1:37.570, P4 1:37.584), so it was going to be a close race. Standing start, managed to grab P3 by T2, and worked to get past a S197 CMC2 Mustang. After finally getting around him, in a solid P3.....I ran the car out of gas with 1.5 laps to go.

The Argent Lab CMC #5 Mustang was doing well.....it was the driver who goofed it up. WSIR uses more fuel that ANY track I've been to anywhere in the US.

Next up - SPIR in late June.
