As you might recall, Steve ventilated his oil pan and helped the drifting contest going into T1 at Hallett.

We R&Red his motor with a spare and the car is running once again.

The engine failure was ugly ...

It was an unknown rebuild when we installed it. So, we're off to the builders ...

Good lord, do you have nothing else to do?! I haven't even cleaned the bugs off my car!

Since returning from Hallett, we've installed a cage in Rayman's car, R&Red the engine in #8 and refabricated the exhaust system on my car.

Hey MFW, you'll be glad to know that I think we found some of the rumble strip you excavated exiting T6. A downtube of my Y-Pipe was severed into 2 pieces and a hunk of concrete was discovered in Steve's K-Member. Steve was directly behind me when you went off.

What do you think was the root cause of the engine failure?

(no joke, no sarcasm, serious question)

It appears the rod just pulled apart just above the crank.

No tell-tale indication of oil starvation, spun bearing or rod bolt stretch. All the other bearings looked great.

Sooo...are you guys going to build another spare motor to have as backup since that one worked as designed?

(...just spreading good karma...)

Since returning from Hallett, we've installed a cage in Rayman's car...

Word is Rayman totalled his car @ PPIR last weekend.

From his angle, we all look the same to him.

Nothing like watching your buddy total his car right in front of you during your 2nd lap of your first ever qualifying session

Wow, looks like a tough hit, glad to hear Raybob is ok. Were the manties still on the back of his car? 8)
