Hey Mitch. Could this the start of a new 16 page wonder thread? Wow, could my post be part of history one day?

Anyway, the pickup is running great, my dad loves it.

I'm glad to hear that. I was concerned because I had no history with it.

CMC #8 (LAW #3) should weigh under 3000lbs dry.

The motor is a 500 mile shortblock and the top end has less than 1500 miles on it.

The trans was recently rebuilt.

It has new brakes and brake lines. We used a Painless wiring harness.

It will have Autometer guages, Ultrashield seat, Konis and H&R Sport springs.

We will debut the car in April at MSR-C

GlennCMC70

it should fall just over 2900 dry. like 2930 or so.

I believe it will stay in Texas.

We will let the new owner post up if he so desires, but remember Eric making comments about the 4th gens?

4th gen sounds tempting. All that power and torque <yummy>. However, I'd rather beat you guys silly with 266rwtq (4300rpms) and point fingers after the race. :D

KIDDING!!!

What's the asking price....? I know of someone interested in getting into CMC but he is a ford guy at heart....he just tends to put ford motors into RX7's that haul ass!

mitchntx
04-28-2006, 01:29 PM
Asking prices vary on how the client wants the cage, safety, brakes, spares ... minimum vs the best is a wide range ....

A huge chunk of the cost is the donor car. So far, we've been lucky getting donor cars at under $1000. But those are oppurtunistic at best ...

Given those wide variables, we can build a cMC 4th gen for $6-15K ... again, depending on how much the client provides and how far he/she wants to go.

LS1s in RX7s are quite fast as well ...

if your shopping for a 4th gen guys/gals, get w/ myself or Mitch and let us get started on your '07 CMC car. we can fill any budget from a roller w/ a cage to a "to the limit of the rules" beast. plent yof time to get it done right between now and '07.

Resurrecting this because a few Mustang owners are searching for a superior platform.

I passed on a '93 HT 6 speed for $1600 ...

I currently have a '96 Z28 and a 94 Formula both ready to build for a mediocre driver to experience the podium.

And another 94 parts car.

All 4 wouldn't add up to what the guy is asking for the eBay car. There are some real deals out there ...

GlennCMC70

as mitch said, go from zero to hero as fast as you can say "move over Ford, i got me a Cheby -i'm gonna be a superstar!"

but really. we got a couple cars ready for someone who is ready to step into a proven set-up and race winning combo.

Getting out of a mustang into a chebby ain't gonna make a winner out of anyone unless they know how to drive as well as Glenn and have eyes on long stalks that can see around all the chebby's blind spots? ;)

If you are saying that superior Chevys will propel a mediocre driver to a podium, then the inverse must be true that superior drivers put mediocre Fords on the podium.

Thanks Mitch, I'm feeling better already!!! :D

This is turning into the Richard Pryor thread of Texas.

How much does 4th gen fat camp cost?

mitchntx
05-30-2007, 08:36 AM
For you Al? Expensive.

CMC #8 is the ONLY car that has come out of LAW MS shops that is capable of beating #9 and #70.

And it will remain like till someone writes a big check then signs a non-compete, non-diclosure statement.

It's not about the parts, it's about the knowledge ...

#9 ain't all that and a bag-o-chips. (What # are you anyway, these days?)
I drove it.
Solid car.
Drove great...but nothin' overly superior.
Granted she was set up for TT, but I was surprised at how tail happy like a Stang she was. (many factors there like tires and pressures, I know...but still surprised.)
Also...who-ever builds your transmissions over at LAWnMotorsports put the R where the 5 was supposed to go.

Cruel joke...I expected more from a professional race team.

lawn motorsports. haha

That Reverse 5th thing makes me nervous. Is there not a way to lock that out without the skip shift? Seems like it would be worthwhile to make something.

As soon as I install a new motor in my diesel, and fix the starter on the E36 and fix the ignition on the street car and make my race car drive straight again and mow my yard I will make something. I should have plenty of time.

GlennCMC70
06-01-2007, 10:38 AM
the skip shift has nothing to do w/ reverse. skip shift is for skipping 2nd. there is a reverse lock-out that keeps you out of reverse. it will only let you in if you are stopped. on our cars its disabled, so it does not let you in when your stopped, you have to force thru the solinoid. its so stiff that in my car, i cut a few coils off the spring to make it easier, and i've never put it into reverse on accident. it takes me 2 hands in Mitch's car cause he didnt cut the spring. i have no idea how Todd did it on accident.

mitchntx
06-01-2007, 10:44 AM
It does have a reverse lockout.

And, to get there, I have to start between 1-2 and ram it over to overcome the solenoid.

Guess Todd ate spinach for lunch that day.

Todd Covini
06-01-2007, 09:33 PM
....maybe that was 1st gear?!?!
I don't know...they're all up there near the dash I can't keep them straight.

mitchntx
06-01-2007, 09:50 PM
That's OK, Todd.

Probably best if you stick with the platform more suited for the short bus kids.

Todd Covini
06-01-2007, 10:02 PM
No...I said I WASN'T switching to the bowtie platform, Mitch.

94 Formula is in assembly right now.

Should be ready for the banquet, if wives are agreeable.

This a true budget build ... no frills. Just a safe, reliable car. Our target price is $8000, race ready.

If this is something you are interested in and have specific ideas on what you want, now is the time to order them up.
