I am not a moderator so I could not reply to Glenn's post in "Announcements".

I tried to renew my Comp License and it came up w/ a flag saying it would only renew for the 2008 season, 2009 license renewals need to be submitted after Dec. 14th. What gives???

Michael - I wouldn't worry too much about it. Wait until Monday, then renew.

I just tried to renew my comp license but it showed the new one would expire in Sept. 09? We have a race in Oct?

Do you have a medical that expires then or something? License should be good for an entire year, not nine months.

My medical expires 10-09-2009 so I do not understand why it was doing that. I'll try again this morning.

if you medical expires in Oct, thats why your license will only renew till Sept - i think.

From the 2008 CCR ...

1.3.2 Membership - Terms

A membership is valid through the expiration date indicated on the card.

That tells me the date you join is the date on the card.

14.1.1 NASA completed Provisional License holders:

3. Submit their completed NASA (or approved) Physical Exam Form.

Note: All Physical Examinations shall be renewed and resubmitted as per the instruction sheet (page one) of the Physical Examination Form.
5. Submit an Application for Competition License

And the form says:

Renewals:
Applicants less than 40 years old must submit a new physical every five years or as required by their physician.
Applicants that are at least than 40 years old must renew their Medical Examination every three years.
Applicants that are at least than 50 years old must renew their Medical Examination every two years.
Applicants that are at least than 60 years old must renew their Medical Examination every 12 months.

Finally ...

14.3 License Renewal/Expiration
Competition licenses are valid for the calendar year indicated on the license.

That tells me the Comp license is a calendar year renewal and is based upon the medical expiration which, like the NASA membership, is on the month in which you submitted the last mediacl renewal.

My medical expires in May of 2010. So, in december of next year or January of 2010, I plan on getting a new medical form and submitted so that I'm not caught by surprise mid year.

No,

Just the comp license is due at the first of the year unless you signed up for membership at the same time as you received your comp license (if I understand this correctly).

Comp licenses expire at the end of each calendar year. Memberships expire on the date you first joined NASA.

To find the license renewal link, log into the NASA ProRacing website with your email addy and password. Look at the top left, where it says "My Profile".

My 2009 comp license came in the mail a few days ago.
