Jeff, I am going to go out on a limb here but I think those R888's suck?! I know that 50lbs isn't causing all that mess. You looked like you were working 10X as much as you used to....did you lose the cruise control button?! ;)

Are the sidewalls "softer" on the 888s? assuming that is what you were running...

I only got to run my camera during r3 and the dang battery died after just a few laps.

So here is a horrible first lap with me making a boneheaded door to door slap with Mitch and then missing a gear.

I think that is the front tire you are seeing... as the car snaps, the car rotated a little causing the front tire to appear, making it look like the rear axle shifted to the right... (you can see a sliver of the left rear, and it does not appear to move to the right)

Very strange looking, but that is what I would guess.

My guess is transmission mount again. I am going to have to check it out before next event. I have been really rough on those and broken a couple.

I also need to check the exhaust....it is close to the tunnel brace and floor.

Not sure about the RR tire.
It looked like the rear was doing the same thing in Liebbe's TWS video from last year but I checked under the car and everything is hooked up correctly w/ all welds in good shape. I guess I'll have to take another look.

Glenn, no worries. :)

Amazing how it looked like the axle was moving side to side in the low res video (it was actually the front tire) but clear as a bell in the high res video.

When the front and rear tires were lined up perfectly for a split second your eye gets fooled into thinking the rear tire moved over.

Was unlucky with the GoPro last weekend. Threw it on Steve's car using Mitch's SD card for R1. Worked fine (other than me forgetting to set it to record right-side-up). Tried to get something during R2-R4 on my car. Got 16sec, 0 sec, and 1min 42sec of grid. Swapped out (what I thought were) new batteries each time. Might be the cheap SD card. :x

I'll try convert the onboard old school Hi-8 this weekend.

Is the initial format .AVI? I've had problems with the GoPro format when importing directly into AP, Studio 12 or Windows MM. I did resolve that issue with an AVI to MPEG converter. Works great and quality is peachy.

you guys are gonna be better off in the long run to learn to drive your cars w/ less power first. power isnt everything. the difference in lap times between CMC and CMC-2 are proof of that.

I'm beginning to think it's GPH's audio recording. Virtual Dub tells me each time that it has to truncate the audio and conform it to 16bit.

I would have to agree Glenn. Once I realized I was way down to the other guys around me, I started carrying more in and out of the turns. According to Traqmate, although I was slower overall, I was nearly 2 seconds faster through the turns. It realy sucked beating my steering wheel out of the turns to try and go faster, but I learned I can drive this car way faster into and through the turns.

Can't wait for a for a few extra horsies, that and just having it run right... :?

Looked to be a great equalizer to me in the vid. That was the only place he had you and I think it's more about his line thru those turns and where he was getting on the gas rather than about the extra weight....especially since you beat him.

Reeling the thread back in a little.....

I'd like to take a moment and thank those that have sent or sending video this way. I'm also on the lookout for any still pics too. I've already snagged a bunch of pics that have been posted (thanks!).

Some thoughts to keep in mind for those that have the capability and/or willing to help out:

1. Viewpoints - hood, side, back, bumper, suspension, hero shots are at a premium and very welcome. Don't be afraid to show some emotion while driving. :D Foot-work shots would be totally awesome too!

2. Quality - if you have the capability to capture/render in 16:9 and DVD quality kudos and will be greatly appreciated. If not, I can digitize 'em for ya (I just need the tape or memory stick).

3. Still pics - candid shots are definitely wanted. Anything that shows action, emotion, stress, camaraderie and everything in-between is highly prized and very much welcome. :D

If you have any questions, please send me a PM or post here.

Thanks!

Yep - it is a great idea. Foxes have hardly been a dominant platform for several years, and a change needed to happen.

Go back to previous CMC history, and you'll see they've made weight changes to promote platform parity. Granted, this is a more significant change, but it was needed.

Parity????
LOFL
You didn't need parity that day at Barber.
Todd didn't need parity that day at MSRH (before he spun LOL).
Rob has never needed parity at TWS.

Are you serious?
Adam had a great "day"?
Todd had a great "day"?
Rob has a great "track"?
That is alot of individual things that cover the last 3 or 4 years of racing.

Wirtz had an amazing weekend w/ two 1st places and two 2nd places. He is in 1st place and you are in 2nd place.

If ya'll are at such a disadvantage b/c of this weight change does that make every other driver in this series total crap?
My opinion is this change was long over due. Are you so accustomed to GM winning every single race that when a Mustang finally wins one the rules have to be flawed?

Jeff, the MSRH weekend was an absolute blast for me. I had so much fun trying to stay in front of you at times and trying to get around you other times!! I guess that weight adjustment is what kept me in front of you for a few laps. :?

Now, now...let's get back to all the awesome videos.

Remember....wax....wane....ebb...flow...

Over the years the rules have always been tweaked back & forth to ensure close competition. Guess what....I'm confident that they will change again sometime in the future. They'll never be "perfect" as someone will always claim too much to one side or too much to the other. (Can't remember a time when both sides were entirely happy....welcome to the "Camaro-Mustang Challenge"!)

(...and now back to your regularly scheduled programming....2009 MSRH Media...already in progress....)

Michael,
All that I can rebutt with is "mistakes".
I log/analyze mine.
He who makes the least/none wins.
When I don't have any, what do I analyze?
I'm analyzing the tire and a new setup, and past "parity" adjustments.

So, 3rd gens are leading the points in Tx.
Is the fox still disadvantaged?
What now?

Dude, I love you to death... but even a bowtie fan has a hard time following this... I'd keep my thoughts to myself before they start adding weight to the points leader... Look what NASCAR did to Busch last year, he came out of the box wining 1/2 the first 14 races and they took away 10 hp... I would be on your side if you were a defending champion trying to make history as a repeat or threepeat champ, but lately When I'm in the stands I love to see a mustang getting in the middle of the Jeff and Jeff show... I'm sure your looking at the big (national) picture...

Not intended as a direct response. Lord knows that I have a history with the word "parity" and have learned to never speak it again.

For me it's different - I'm out to take videos and pictures so everyone may enjoy the season at the end of the year. I had a blast at MSRH and hope I didn't get in the way.

If we can shed 160lbs of weight (not likely) off the #2 car, it would be very competitive, but not sweating it if we don't.

Again, contact me if you have any video questions. 8)

What now? We race 2009 and have a blast!
I have not heard a single person say the fox "still" has a disadvantage this year. We have only had one event, I don't think anyone has enough information for form an opinion regarding the weight changes yet.
Directors have made adjustments to the platforms and we will race them and I'm sure things will be re-evaluated at the end of the year. Like people said, changes have been made over the past 5 years and I'm sure more changes will be made in the future.

I'm racing as hard, and clean and safe, as I can. With the changes I made to the car, the weight adjustments, and a good driving performance, I came away form Houston very happy and very encouraged for the season. I don't always drive as well as I did that day. I think we will have a TON of close racing this year and that will be fun. I also fear that Jeff Burch may have not been fully on his game that weekend. Heck his car was completely torn down and quickly reassembled in the off season. It may, and I'm sure it will get some tweaking beforer the next race. Wirtz still had a ton of speed on everyone. If the "parity shift" was too great, then I would expect to see an adjustment for the next season to bring us back to equal racing. But now, lets all enjoy the fun that is our hobby.
