Title: Crew Chief

Basic Details: CMC2 Car #6 formerly CMC Car #55 needs a crew chief. We are a road racing team based out of our shop located 6 miles from TMS in Justin, TX. CMC2 #6 is a Fox Mustang built and maintained with absolutely no expense spared. The car’s last event was the NASA Championships in 2007. Work obligations have prevented me from dedicating the time needed to prep and run the car. Our goal is to compete in the remainder of NASA Texas’ regional schedule and finish Top 5 in the NASA Championships at Miller Motorsports Park in October. Projected schedule is as follows:

• Comma @ Hallet Motor Racing Circuit on the weekend of May 23rd. (Tulsa, Oklahoma)

• NASA TX @ Hallet Motor Racing Circuit on the weekend of June 13th. (Tulsa, Oklahoma)

• NASA TX @ Texas World Speedway on the weekend of August 1st. (College Station, Texas)

• MPRA @ Miller Motorsports Park on the weekend of August 21st. (Tooele, Utah)

• NASA Championships @ Miller Motorsports Park from September 7th to September 13th. (Tooele, Utah)

• NASA TX @ Eagles Canyon Speedway on the weekend of October 3rd. (Denton, Texas)

• Comma @ Hallet Motor Racing Circuit on the weekend of October 31st. (Tulsa, Oklahoma)

Duties: General make ready and prep of car for events. Typical maintenance takes from 10 to 20 hours per event and includes car clean up and a complete wrench over. This is followed by inspections and or repair of the brake system, all fluids, suspension, tires/wheels, hoses, wires, clamps, and car set-up.
Other duties include participation in various shared activities such as loading/unloading the trailer, driving the truck/motor home. Also, everything is done in house which includes paint, upgrades, fabrication… Most activities will be met with 2 or 3 team members however, we often travel for work and the Crew Chief will be responsible to see that everything gets done in time to make the event. Events require the typical duties of fueling, tire maintenance, adjustments, and repairs.
Qualifications Needed: Racing is a hobby for us and having fun is our main focus. However, safety is our number one priority. It’s for this reason that a certain level of automotive competence is required to wrench on our race car. Race team experience to any degree is highly preferred. Also, shop skills are a must. Cutting, welding, fabrication, body work, electrical, and painting are just some of the normal requirements to keep the car running and competitive. Our shop is fully equipped from paint booth to metal lathe and our Crew Chief needs to know his way around it.

Salary: Well sorry, there is none. However, we do take care of our crew in many ways. Transportation to and from events is provided. Meals are provided. Lodging in our motor home is provided. The shop and all tools are available for personal use. (read personal, not for profit) If you’re building your own car, you’re welcome to use the shop. Top of the line professional crew shirts are provided along with team t-shirts and other swag.

Dat's fa sho brotha'!!! That little experience cost me a motor and really, I haven't raced since. And yes, a crew chief looking after things could have prevented it.
