Does anyone know if the T-3650 in the S197 is the same as the T-3650 used the in the 4.6 SN95 cars?

Did your dad leave it in gear on the way back from Arizona?

No...well, at least I dont think so. It was gradually getting harder and harder to shift the last month or so. I was planning on bringing it to the stealership once dad came home. Now its so bad you cant even get it into 4th without double clutching it.

From what I understand....yes. Only difference might be the tailshaft on the newer version to deal with the two piece driveshaft or tranny mount. Similar to a Fox T5 and Sn95 T5...

If you are having problems with it and stock power, for the money, I would put a T56 in it! ;)

I've got a perfectly good T-45 taking up space in my garage if that's an option. Comes with a Steeda Tri-ax, too. :)

[Edit] I doubt anyone will be interested since it's such a mess, but I've also got the remains of a TKO-600 in a bag if anyone is looking for a project. The front cluster shaft bearing siezed and chaos ensued  The case, front bearing retainer and cluster shaft are shot, but everything else seems to be in good shape (pending a more detailed inspection).

Thanks Matt! I'll do that. I edited my last post as well.

Sure it's not just the clutch? Shifts fine without the motor running through all the gears?

I have decided to go an alternate root from the T45... But thanks for thinking about me...

Al I have a GREAT T-45 in first second and fifth... Third and Fourth are just a bit mushy and won't put power to the back wheels... I'll give it to you for a steal... $500....

The shifter on the newer 3650 sits back a bit so I think you'd have to change out the shifter - other than that I think they are the same.

They are very different and are not interchangeable. I've had them sitting side by side. The 197 version uses a hydraulic throwout bearing, the shifter , flanged output shaft and the mounts are all different.

Excellent, thanks Dave.

Its been at the stealership for a week now as they tried to figure out how to get it to pass state inspection. Apparently this dealer has three mustangs in the same boat...intake air temp over range. Not sure why Ford sells cars that arent smog legal in the summer  Once I get it back I'll see if it shifts when the motor is off.

Hey I know that story... "sorry we don't know what the problem is, how much money do you have?" cost me over $2,000 to fix the "fly-by-wire" on my Dodge... kinda like my Dad's cancer treatment.. "we could have done more but Medicaide only approved the treatment we gave him"

Yeah really. Got the car back finally. It passed state inspection by doing it in the middle of the night

Trans shifts fine with the motor off once you work it a couple of times. Motor idling, you can row through the gears but it feels a little weird. Driving around you cant go into 4th without a double clutch or allowing rpm to drop to idle and settle for a while. All other gears feel funky. No detectable slip, clutch pedal feels fine. I have no idea what all that means.

The answer is money. What's the question?

What fluid is in it/supposed to be in it?

Did it get 75W-90 instead of ATF?
