What does everyone use as a cold starting point? For you NASA guys who don’t want to give away your secrets, Email me directly. I want to try some different settings other than what I run already.

For 16" or 17"?

I would guess 17" but figured I'd ask. :D

Same question... Running 16" wheel

PM or email

I have been starting in the mid to high 20s, depending on the track to end with @ 30 hot

I ask, because a newbie felt I was running too low, but this has worked pretty good for me...

I start out in the mid - low 20's (depending on tire) and then shoot for 29 hot.

There, my secret is out.

At ECR and TWS, I started out in the low 20s, looking for ~30 hot

Honestly I have started out anywhere from the low 20's to the low 30's and really don't notice much difference...except looser in the low 20's, but time wise very little difference.

I don't really have a target hot pressure.

This man speaks the gospel. Play with hot pressures ranging from 30-to 33 hot to balance the car front to rear...anything over 34 to 35 hot will get greasy toward the end of the race. My personal fastest lap times have been turned on a cold RA1 warming to around 26 lbs at every track and the AI/X qual lap records at Houston were run on a flat front left tire at around 10lbs or so...

Just don't expect jack crap for wear though!

I have gone out as low as 18 and 19lbs but have not seen any appreciable gain over starting a couple pounds higher so I stuck with higher to keep the tire on the rim.

R888's will need to toss most of your pressure data as they have a softer/springier side wall. Guessing pressures will run 2-4lbs higher but still trying to get my hands on a set.

I will get 4 race weekends from a set ... that's very reasonable wear.

In CMC you are probably right. I have gone from 4 weekends to about 2.5 with all the new Aero work... I think we have reached the tire's limits in AI... :?

Thanks guys... confirmed my feelings of 30 hot plus or minus a degree fells good in my car... any thing over 33 feels like driving on ice, plus tire roll testing looks good at @30... thanks again...
