I'm working on taking weight off my car and I'm wondering what would be the best tool to use. I have a dremel tool that works great, but uses up a whole disk in about 5 inches of sheetmetal. I bought a air powered cutoff wheel but my compressor is only about 40 gallons and runs out of air pressure too fast with it.

Anybody have any better suggestions? I'm thinking something like an electric cuttoff tool if I can find one.

Electric cut off wheel works best. Harbor Freight has ones for as cheap as $15.

Plasma Torch for big areas (like gutting doors). You should be able to gut a door in about five minutes with a torch. It would take hours with a cut off wheel. And, your only consumable with a torch is electricity. No disks to buy. Surely the military has one you could try out?

What MM said. Get the super thin wheels for them (1/32"?) and it works very well. I usually keep one rigged up like this at all times.

I generally get the 4-4.5" ones.

Just stopped by Sears and got a craftsman and 4 of those thin disks. Going to take a crack at it tomorrow.

Thanks for the advice guys! :D

Eddie,
For replacement wheels, go to Home Depot and get DeWalt brand wheels. They last MUCH longer than anything else I've tried.

Walter brand is top of the line ... We abuse the crap out of them and they hold up really well.

I'm always partial to a Sawzall since they seem to be lots of fun and I've only lost one finger playing with them.
