A couple folks, through IM, told me they made CMC numbers without restrictor plates.
back in my ol' cmc trim my car did 230/30x w/ a 32mm plate (maybe it was 33). unrestricted it was 275/310 or so. I've made some changes including exhaust since then.
I just put a 39mm in to start.
For those using plates what size are you using for CMC2 numbers, and perhaps what did you use for CMC numbers with minimal changes or what were your unrestricted numbers? Hopefully i can get an estimate of what i would expect to use. I converted my range of cmc plates from 31-35mm to cmc2's with a 37-41mm range.
Dyno time perhaps on Thursday.

For CMC numbers, I've always been for the last few years at 230/300 w/ a 31mm-33mm. This varies according to how close I want to cut it.

Today a 33mm was to big and a 31mm was really to small, but I went w/ those numbers instead of putting a 32mm in. This is for CMC.
For my CMC 2 numbers, I put in a 36mm. 245/305ish. 37mm. 251/308ish. My next size was a 40mm, and it made 263/309. The tq is not affected much by plate size changes. Due to the area in the RPM band where peak TQ is made for an LT1 - the plate is not much of a restriction at that flow level.
My car's last unrestricted pull was 278/316 if I recall. It has made as much as 285/325, but that was before my first re-build back in 2007. If I had a 38-39mm plate, I would have used that. Last year I was cert'ed for CMC2 w/ a 37mm plate.
I have new heads on for this year.

thanks Glen.
Your numbers agree with what i was expecting.
I vaguely recall thinking "5hp/1mm restriction" back when i was dialing in 230/300.
so with ~ 230/300 at 33mm bumping to 39mm should give me around 260hp. good place to start while having +/-2mm on each side for adjusting with my plate selection.

Dyno done.
40mm restrictor plate
255/304

39mm plate
251/302

I could have tried my 41mm but decided to just leave it as is.
