Guys I am going to pay tribute to Dan Wheldon this weekend ...haven't figured out precisely where but I am thinking just "RIP Dan" or maybe just "Dan" on the front of the car somewhere.

Anyone with me?

I didn't really follow Indycar that much but I would do something with the group. What about a script "Dan Weldon" over our passenger side door? We could ask Wade if he could make them for us (he has a vinyl cutting machine and can do graphics). Either Sam could bring them or I'll be going through College Station on my way.

What do you think?

I'll throw money in the kitty to cover materials if Wade is willing to cut them.

I'm in for a DW, a Wheldon, a #77... I like it.

I will cut whatever you guys decide on. Be glad to do it.

I like the idea as well....I'm in.

Thanks Wade!

My idea for putting his name over the passenger door was that he would be riding along with us, a co-driver so to speak.

The #77 is a good idea. It will probably have to be small enough that we don't confuse the corner workers. Maybe we need NASA approval? If so, then we should bring a bunch in case any of the other participants want to put one on their car also.

Great idea! I'm in too. I like the idea of having Dan's name on the door. I will pay for materials / labor too.

Wade,
Send me the best way to get you some $$$ and an approx material cost. I'd be glad to cover this for the group.

traced this up in CAD. should be easy for wade to cut, he can adjust as required.

ignore the black background. it would be either solid black or solid white car silhouette, with the 77 open showing the color of your car through.

thoughts?

That is pretty cool Nick.

I like Nick's design and could easily cut these. It looks like it is about twice as wide as it is tall, so I can do 5x10 or 4x8, etc. I can make black ones and white ones depending on whether you want it to contrast with your car. I can also just do the text about the door if y'all still prefer that. The vinyl cost is negligible so don't worry about that. let;s just try to come to a consensus Nick's design or the text, and some quantity estimate. I'm thinking 10 white and 10 black should cover our group unless someone wants to be incharge of contacting groups outside of CMC.

Nick's design works for me, I'll take a white one.

Thanks for doing this Wade!

Nice design Nick; I'd like a white one please. I'm good with either 4x8 or 5x10.

Great job Nick! Looks really good. I'll take a black one and Mindy wants a white one.

Wade - thank you for making these for us. Also thanks to Brian for getting the idea rolling.

I'll take black please. However I noticed that Sam is not signed up. I will be going through Bryan/College Station tomorrow evening because I have a customer visit near Ft. Worth on Thursday (as if my mileage allowance will pay for 1/4 of my fuel costs!)

Is that a problem Wade? Can anyone else go through BCS on Thursday? (Personally I think it is a much more pleasant drive than I45 from Houston.)

I'll probably run thru B/CS on my way up Friday. I usually go I35 rather than paying $12 in tolls just to get TO I45. Should give Wade some extra time to cut the stickers.

I'll take whatever color, black or white works, just depends where it goes on Knocker.

I can bring the stickers - Darcie and I will be there, just not bringing the car.

Balingit talked me into working grid since the normal crew bailed for this race. I always hear about how terrible other groups are about grid'ing themselves - now I get to see it first hand. I'm thinking the 944 cake-eaters may need some miata's laced in between them, what'd you think?

Edit: If anyone is coming through College Station anyway, I'd love to find the Ruckus a ride to ECR... we're bringing the caddy or a borrowed Sprinter/Airstream RV conversion van. No room for the Ruck in either.

Got this in an e-mail today:

If it's not too late, have him make an extra 10 black and 10 white.

About to cut stickers. I'll go ahead and cut the extra and we'll slap on them on everything at the track after the CMC group is taken care of. I will be at ECR, just not driving. I need to make sure I am 100% before I do some sort of irrepairable damage. Three bulging discs, but the doctor says it will heal on its own...if I let it. My car will be there. CMC hopeful Jeff Tilton will be driving it in HPDE working towards his license. He plans to race next year, and he needs ECR and the rookie day to wrap up his schools. His car is at my shop getting a cage so we made a deal for him to drive mine this weekend. See you all Friday.

Please be sure and thank both Wade AND Wendi at the track, as I'm sure Wendi will be doing most of the work ;-)

What is your favorite adult beverage? Or Wendi's?

Wade

LOL thanks everyone. Wendi and I are not yet adults...I drink Dr. Pepper and she drinks water. Strange I know.
