View Full Version : MSR-C 3-17/18-12 - Schedule!

I don't have a copy of the schedule yet, but when I do, I'll post it here. But while I have your attention..... ;)
As always, we will have at least 2 required meetings during the weekend. Each will be 15 minutes after qual. Missing these meetings will result in no qual time. If you have an offical NASA reason for missing the meeting, be sure and get w/ me prior to missing the meeting. One thing I ask is that you help and remind the visiting racers and rookie racers of these meetings. We will likely be spread out more than normal, so look out for one another. At this point, the meeting location will be at my trailer. I could however move it as a result of weather or noise. I'll post this on my trailer door.
I will have my trailer there, so look on my door for qual results and grids for R1-4.

If you need an Annual Inspection..... Please let me know well in advance! Sat AM is not gonna cut it. I'll point you to the tech shed. You may miss practice/qual as a result.

Al - I need an Annual please.

Please go out of your way making the visiting racers feel at home. I know I don't need to ask this group to do that, but lets be sure and show them a good time (where is the Dr Frank hooch when you need it?). Simple things like "where is impound" or "where is the bathroom" are things these guy will not know. We will also have some rookies that may need to know as well.

I'll add more as I think of it.

As one of the visiting racers, I do have a couple of questions?
1: where's the first turn
2: what's the track record
Oh and can I wrap my exhaust manifolds?

Start is between Big Bend and Rattlesnake on the attached track map. Usually just a guy standing in the back of a truck. We run counterclockwise, so turn one is the area called "Rattlesnake". It is M-U-C-H tighter than it looks on the map. Don't go wide left. You can see why in our video from last year when Randy destroyed an oil pan, and control arm on the white 77.

For new people, I recommend that you just take the start and then exit to pit lane to stay out of any trouble ;-p

And please note the passing areas. If you have not completed the pass by the end of the green portion you need to pull back in line and follow the car in front until the next passing area. We usually require point-bys also. ;)

I am trying to get there friday night at a decent time to do some tech. I will already be in the DFW area weds/thrus/friday. Friday after I get out of training I have to get the wife and kids from oklahoma and then head down to the track. Hopefully I can get there early enough to knock out some tech work.

Dave and others,
Is there any way AI/CMC could compromise and park around the perimeter of the skid pad? I know the logistics will have to get worked out when at the track but I think we could all put forth a big effort to keep the parking clean up there.
It would be pretty easy to unload the car and then back the trailer up into the grass (with the truck tires still on pavement), and then pit in front of said trailer.
Thoughts????

This is what you, Marshall, Frank, Mitch, BL and I (and many others) have done every year. I unload the car then back the trailer into the dirt leaving only the RV on the blacktop. Then we pit in front of the RV. If it was just AI/CMC we could get away with just the perimeter. I bet last year half or more were not in AI/CMC. Don't they know that is our area?

The whole parking thing is stressing me with my parents bringing the motorhome. There simply is not enough paved parking for everyone.

Dave's letter said we wouldn't be allowed in until 5:00, but I suspect the line starts forming very early for a land rush.

What time is everyone planning on being there? I sure would like to get a spot for my parents motorhome that is acceptable.

Dave's letter also said that you wouldn't be allowed to park parallel to the grass to allow more parking spots which is a good thing, but I wonder if it will be enforced since some of those big rigs take up tons of parking.

Sounds great Casey but I can tell you if we can't get into the track during the day on Friday we are looking at a clusterfuck! Can you imagine how many people are going to do like me and come early hoping to get a good spot. It's the only reason I take off work on Fridays is to get a good spot with a large rig. I can see cars parked on the side of the highway backed up half way to Grandbury.

Not excited about missing an event (it sucks), but looks like this one is the one to miss. Parking was terrible before the reorginaztion. I was DE'ing there last year and you guys had the best parking spot for sure. Glad I wont have to wade through that mess. Just praying it doesnt rain so you guys dont end up with a catatophe.

Been so busy at work I never even got a chance to work on the car anyway so TWS it is. My boss obviously doesnt understand that his priorities are all wrong. :D

Yes; I had "reasonable" position and you made an aggressive move and based on the weekend I had to avoid contact at any cost to position.

Sorry David! I thought the first one was worse than that. I thought I may have pushed you all the way off the track. As I turned in the front tires did not grip at all. Must have been cold tires because I never had that issue in that turn on any other lap. Again thanks for helping me not hit you. That one was my fault all the way. I never saw the second one and I think I had position at turn in so I'm not sorry about that one but the first one was stupid as hell. I could have torn up both cars. Dave, apparently some of the Spec PiƱata guys were so eager to leave the track that they blocked the EV from
getting to Rock and his loose wheel. That is the story I got, someone might be able to clarify
