It would be nice to know what the tentative schedule is? Enduro? If so how long and what day? Is there a test n tune on Friday? Can't tell from the NOLA web site. It's a long trek, plans must be made. FMR

There is a Friday Test and Tune through the track. Unfortunately, it's all day and there is no time on Friday for an enduro like we hoped. We do have a bit of time on Friday afternoon for comp school.

Here is the signup for the T&T day.

Since we have never raced here before, I went to the webiste and looked up the track. It appears that there are several configurations. Can someone post a map with the config and direction that we will be using?

Each race should be done in a different configuration and direction so we can get all the track records for AI/CMC. :D

I asked this and already got an answer on the Main NASA Board in the TX section. Here's the skinny:

http://www.nolamotor.com/images/NMSP-Masterplan.pdf
2.75mi (North loop/half) going CW

CW, so headed out of the pits down the meat of the main stretch / away from the paddock to the SW
Take the first right to start on that loop, and continue around it such that you rejoin the end of the main stretch
Then continue around the rest of the track

If you zoom in on the track map you can see turns/turn station labels, we'll go past them all of them in order 1-16

No kidding.... that is insane pricing... I can only imagine what a tire wall costs.

You'd have to do something monumentally dumb to hit anything from the track video I watched...? Note - that isn't a challenge to any of you jokers to try and hit something! heh

I signed up but don't know what to do about the practice day. Would like to do at least a happy hour. I think they get $40.00 per night for an RV so this looks like a very expensive weekend.

I do hope to drive down Thursday and Friday morning go to Cafe Du Mound for Beignets and coffee.

JJ... I agree. It is going to be a very expensive weekend. I am also not sure what to do about practice. I sure would like to see a 1/2 day or at least a happy hour.

My plan is to arrive Thursday night also. I want to make a trip down to Cafe' Du Monde for breakfast too.

Same boat as you guys. I want to do Friday practice, but not for $300. I'm heading to NOLA Thursday evening either way. If nothing changes about the practice day, we'll probably just spend the day and my T&T money at Harrah's.

I'm with you Gary. I'm not paying $300.00 (or even $200.00 for a half day). I will just have to wing it.

I guess four of us could share one car and hope they don't notice the different drivers. We can use my car.....I don't care.

A happy hour for $50.00 or $75.00 would be perfect for me.

I would sure like to see a half day also. I finally signed up but for Saturday only, I have a 6:30pm flight out of IAH on Sunday. So I would like more track time than just the one day.

ShadowBolt
10-30-2012, 07:33 AM
Anyway Dave could or would talk to them about a happy hour? I would be happy to bay up to $75.00 for the hour. I really doubt many are going to pay the $300.00.

I sent Kelly an e-mail and ask about a half day rate and if it was possible to get a happy hour. I would be very content with just a happy hour even at $75.00.
I will let you all know what she says if she responds.

Rates I saw were:
$300 day
$200 half day

I'd be in for a $75 happy hour (preferably much less, $25-50 would be better) as I could stand to heat cycle a set of tires and bed some brakes in while getting a feel for the track rythm.

Just got an email that you can register for half day price and the whole day is included. Still $200 though.

Kelly ignored my e-mail and sent me the same thing as you got. I told her I did not think she was going to have many takers at $300.00 per day and we would really like a happy hour and that we would pay $50.00 to $75.00 for that hour. No response. So $200.00 for all day. Jay and I usually split a half day and it's more time than we really need and that is with two drivers. It cost you $30.00 per night to camp ($40.00 with 50 amp power) so I'm looking at $150.00 for the camping from Thursday night through Sunday night, $200.00 to practice, $300.00 to race (the best deal of all of it), and $550.00 to $650.00 for RV fuel to get there and back. $1200.00 to $1300.00 to race at NOLA not including tire money. May have to reconsider for next year. Hallett charges me $50.00 for power for the whole three or four days. That is a little low but full hook-ups at an RV park are usually around $35.00 a night. This is $40.00 for just power. Hell, it's only money.

I got a reply back on Happy Hour. Don't hold your breath.

The tone wasn't quite to where I don't think we could talk them into it, but sure seems like a longshot. Oh well, $50-$75 back into my pocket and I'll just heat cycle my Hoosiers with my street MR2 down Allen Parkway #imgoingtogetaticketarentioffcer?

Ken,
From what you say it sounds like they think they are giving us a hell of a deal at $200.00 for all day and we are ungrateful for expecting anything else.........maybe we are?

I have a hard time dialing in on if we get spolied by TWS, MSR's, etc or if they're smart and know the markets better than other tracks. 3 options to meet your customer's needs and separate them from the applicable amount of money seems better than 2 to me and that's from both a business standpoint and a customer standpoint... shrug. Is what it is like you said. :)

They know demand is high since it is a new track to 99% of folks. It's a sellers market.

My daughter and son in law are driving in from Pensacola to stay with us at the track. Don't think they will be there until Friday noon or so. I may have to hitch a ride to Cafe' Du Monde Fri. morning.

if it was they'd have replied back "sure, we'll do the last hour for $199.99..." I'd agree with you. It was more like "no, stop asking dumbass".

Again - 3 options to separate your customer and their money > 2... :)

Get there crazy early - CDM always has huge lines. It won't be quick.

Does anyone have space in their enclosed trailer for Raegan and I to put down an air mattress for Friday and Saturday night? Hoping to save some $$ and camp at the track.

I may have read it wrong Michael but if I did read it correctly it cost $40.00 per night to have RV power and $30.00 per night to camp without power. I was not going to pay the $120.00 for the power since I can run the generator for less than $40.00 per day and as cool as it's supposed to be we will not have to run the AC but if you have to pay $30.00 per night to camp even without power then I may as well pay $40.00 and have power. I hope I'm wrong.
