well its that time again guys and gals.
Houston, San Antonio/Austin, and Dallas/Ft. Worth areas will all be targeting January 20th as the day for the Annual Dyno day. nothing official in Houston and Austin/SA, but should be shortly.
i will be heading up the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. so far i have talked w/ SpeedTeck in Halton City (Ft Worth) and i need a general idea of who will be attending this before i can get an idea on pricing. this is an in ground dyno, no lifts involved. so if you plan on attending, please post up here or contact me via phone or email. i'll give this the rest of the week and thru the weekend before i go to SpeedTeck and get final pricing info. we are also working on having a NASA Tech inspector present @ each location to perform Annual Inspections and possible issuing of log books. no word on that yet, and i will update as it gets worked out. i just wanted to get this out there so you guys could start working on freeing up that date and making plans to be there.
as always, feedback is welcome.

Glenn.... I definitely need to attend.

I would like to make a few pulls though.

Baseline... no restrictor plate and then a couple of pulls to choose a restrictor plate to hit THE NUMBER.

As a Dallas Racer....I won't be at the dyno day in Jan. See you monkeys in April at the earliest....

I have a TIFF of my 2006 dyno sheet.

I think I will just open up Photoshop and .....

I just saved/modified/printed the 2007 dyno sheet to reflect the "American Iron" method of HP and TQ calculations for minimum weight since we don't use an average. Max HP and Max TQ, regardless of the run are used to determine minimum weight.

Right?

I'm in.
Please ask if the wideband is working now.
(I'm bringing a new piece of copper tubing regardless OMG)
3 pulls only pls.
Order should be determined by finishing order from kart race though.
Tuners and rookies after that

since i just got involved in the "management" loop, this is a new issue for me. what did you do last year to resolve this? has the National AI director been made aware of this issue?
besides, not the place for this. start a new thread.

MM can you forward me that form?

Come yank this motor out of the DPS coupe, at least one of our three cars should make the first event lol.

GlennCMC70
01-01-2007, 10:13 AM
so we have:
James P.
Jeff B.
Marshall M.
and myself
?
thats it?
i'll go by tomorrow and set the date officially w/ SpeedTeck. i'll update this thread w/ a show time and fee.

GlennCMC70
01-02-2007, 04:20 PM
o.k. guys, i have talked w/ Speedteck and here is the deal.
1-5 cars = $50 per car for 3-5 pulls*.
6-10 cars = $35 per car for 3-5 pulls*.
*= whats needed to get 3 pulls under the HP/TQ limit.

if you need more pulls, work it out w/ the shop once you arrive. in order to get the 6-10 car @ $35 rate, 6 or more cars must be ready and in the lot @ 9:30 am the day of the dyno. the date is currently set for the 20th.

so far i have:
James P.
Jeff B.
Marshall M.
and myself
if this is all we have, i'll talk w/ each of you guys to see if we want to move this to the 13th. this could possibly help James and Jeff. we will talk more @ the end of the week. if you are planning to be there, please get your name on this list.

marshall_mosty
01-02-2007, 10:44 PM
I'll talk to Michael and see if he'd be willing to tow to Ft. Worth for the reduced rate. He was talking about going to Lou's since that is closer for him...

GlennCMC70
01-02-2007, 10:52 PM
my deal w/ Lou for the '05 and '06 season was for free dyno time. last time i used it was Jan '06. i think it does not read correctly, and i will not use it. just an FYI. use @ your own risk.

Adam Ginsberg
01-02-2007, 11:44 PM
use @ your own risk.

Using it leads to all sorts of problems....."dyno shopping", "first time the car ever got close to the number, something can't be right".....yeah, stay away from the place. It's trouble.

not sure of your intent w/ this post. could you be more clear? i was offering good advice. he can use what he wants.
my newest annaul dyno was from MSR-C and matched Mid Ohio. i did not turn in a dyno from LG's @ all this year. i dynoed my car @ least 5 times in '06.

Bringing 5-10 AI/CMC cars to a Mustang or Camaro shop dyno day has GOT to be good for everyone involved! (although those Camaro guys can get a bit persnickity).

Let's try to make it happen in Houston & Austin!

Showing up to a mustang dyno day with a whopping 230RWHP doesn't exactly garner a bunch of interested straight line fans though

Houston Dyno Day is a go...but contingent upon HPE's customer dyno day attendance.

Saturday, 1/20/06 ~11AM
www.horsepowerengineering.com

They will have a better idea of attendance during the week.
Conversely, post here if you plan on dyno'ing on 1/20 so we have a better idea of AI/CMC attendance.

As far as Annual Tech Inspections go...
we'll discuss this further at the Banquet.

In discussions with Clifton/Ryan/Jonathan, it does not appear that we will have enough of a turnout to warrant taking the Saturday in Dallas, Houston, Austin to conduct annual tech inspections AND dedicate the friday before the first event for annual tech. As such, Clifton & I will work with them to assure that we have Annual Tech Inspections on the Friday before Round 1 set up early.

In the meantime, the AI/CMC Dyno Day serves as a great time for your AI/CMC Directors to look over your car and conduct a series tech inspection and pre-tech your Annual.

In some cases, (Austin) Ryan or Jonathan may make it out.

Still planning on HPE in Houston late morning.
We're watching the weather and HPE's customer appreciation turnout which could both impact our dyno day.

I'll be calling HPE on Thursday to firm things up but right now ~11AM is our tentative time. (They open @ 10....and want to start out with a few of the "customer appreciation" participants first before strapping down the big, bad AICMC cars.)

Who else is going from Houston? (I need a car count):
Covini
Liebbe
Bell?
Varner?
Rayman?
Other?

We'll confirm things on Thursday nite.

Don't think my car will be ready for the dyno on 1/20 yet. I'll have to do the "scramble around at the last minute" deal this year trying to get my annual and dyno in time for MSRH.

Best laid plans...BAH! I'm already behind the power curve and the season hasn't even started lol.

For the DFW guys... we certainly aren't going to two in the snow/ice to go and dyno pull our cars that have been sitting on the trailer overnight in freezing temperatures with only water in the radiators and block.... are we???

With only two weeks until the first event, getting an annual dyno in before hitting the track is getting very tight.

Thanks for setting up the SpeedTek gig. They were really easy to work with. The "in ground" dyno is really nice since there is room on all sides to work.

See you guys in a few weeks.

Now I just need to find another 50 lbs to get down to my new minimum (2778)...
