It's 3 weeks away and registration isn't open and course/direction configuration hasn't been decided.

3.1 CCW or the 1.7 CW

Wow, good point Mitch. I wonder if that means they haven't decided yet? I've heard the 3.1 is quite an eye-opener, lol.

Well, it appears it's been decided ...

So much for chanting ...

Any update on the race lengths (20 min, 30 or 40 min) and number of races for our run group, Todd or Adam? I would like to know what option you've asked NASA TX to do or what has already been decided.

Also, if Clifton is going to announce any significant changes in his driver's meeting I'd like to know ahead of time.

Yeah, how about an official decision we stick with atleast 2 full weeks prior to 4/22....I need to make tire/wheel decisions before then and Vilven takes a few days to get them here....hmmm, planning is good!!!

1) We're running the 1.7.
2) Length of races is still undetermined...either 20 min. or 40 min. (I'd like to try a 40 min. race while the weather is cool.)
3) # of races is still undetermined...either 3 or 4 (depending on the answer of #2.
4) Split or combined starting grids is still undetermined...however if the Capps FR500s will be there along with our normal AI regulars it will make sense to split the groups. We've always said we're reaching that cut point.
5) Mucho discussios behind the scenes so I imagine we'll have things sorted out very soon...along with a couple treats, as well!

They will be and according to your other post, we are now the largest car count of all regions....easy decision.

However, I would like to offer one point of discussion on the 40 minute race....can we make it R2 on Saturday or one of the NON Contingency races....? There are likely going to be a few DQ's based on weigh ins post race so it would be nice to have less chance losing hard fought for dollars. Just a suggestion....feel free to comment.

Todd, if we are going to do a 40 minute race regardless of which one...PLEASE make sure NASA TX releases that info ASAP. I have already prepared the car for 4ea 20's.....I would hate to need to thrash at the last minute TRYING to get tires, and anything else necessary to prepare for a 40 minute race....like a ballast box maybe!

Thanks,

Matt, forgive my ignorance, but why do you need a ballast box to run a longer race? Educate me.
Thanks

I will soon be on my minimum weight. After a 20 minute race, I burn about 26 lbs of fuel depending on the course and if we run more than about 15 minutes.....take a 40 minute race with a net of 35 minutes of on track time....and I will be under minimum weight. If we are going to run a 40....I need to acquire some ballast....or just drink about 4 gallons of water!!!!

Cant you just start with more fuel?

I always start with a full tank! Try to keep the sloshing to a minimum. I am trying to source an 03 cobra tank with baffles in a trade with a guy....but that is a few weeks out.

Damn dude, your car IS light.

For a new edge car, yes....dry weight without fuel should be around 2780lbs... 2880 with and 3100-3130 with driver....who is losing weight too!!!!

Marshall Mosty is close to being below 3000 race ready with driver and I think Richard Pederson is even lower than that.

Weight will be an issue for even CMC, as I have seen a lot of cars roll up to the scales with less than 10 lbs over. ;-)

That is the name of the game and a longer race changes the game.

So as much notice as possible please.

I weighed in at 3230 with me in it and an almost empty tank. Micah weighs 40 lbs less than me, so I still need to pull about 40 lbs off the car. We can add ballast when Micah drives. We have a 22 gallon fuel cell, so adding fuel to start a longer race isnt a problem.

I just havent had enough time to get to cutting weight off the car.

This is still preliminary, and not 100% confirmed, however, please be prepared for the following format:

Sat -
R1 - 20 minutes, grid based on qual times
R2 - 20 minutes, inverted grid based on finishing order from R1

Sun -
R3 - 40 minutes, grid based on qual times

We are awaiting confirmation from NASA Texas on this format, but should have a solid answer later today.

I won't have any 'net access until I get to Ohio late tonight, so I'll be unable to respond until then.

I will be 2925 at the next event... and that's with a stock K-member and stock A-arms. Once those are changed to tubular (MM or Griggs), I will knocking on the sub 2900 door.

FWIW I was 2950 last month with iron heads and the stated front suspension.

All weights will be post race, of course.

And how is the little guy?
