View Full Version : Round 3- Eagle's Canyon is now TWS

FYI...NASA Texas received an apologetic letter today from Eagle's Canyon stating that they will not have the new track ready for our event. The rains have prevented the progress they had hoped for.

As such, without skipping a beat NASA TX has secured an additional TWS date on the same weekend as our planned Round 3 Eagle's Canyon event. (With the TWS future up in the air beyond 2007, this could be a blessing in disguise which offers another chance to run an awesome track with extensive history!)

We will not be running the conventional TWS configuration for Round 3 so another track record will be up for grabs and another car setup will be required.

Unfortunately Eagles Canyon is off the table for this year...but we'll still have our scheduled 6 Rounds on the original dates.

PS- I fully expect a few "told ya' so"s.

i've run the 1.8 and it gets a little boring. but hey, its better than a canceled event.

I kind of agree with that.

You all have run it wheel-to-wheel racing? I would have to agree with running it in HPDE's.....but W2W it will be "fun". :D

We are discussing right now which track configuration we will be using. We will NOT be running the 2.9 since we will be using that config in August. Up for grabs now is the 1.8 CW, the 1.8 CCW and some others we are discussing. As soon as we know which configuration we will be using we will let y'all know so that you may properly set up your cars. Any input from y'all would be great!

Thanks!

I vote for cw anything. Lets do whatever we have never done and learn a new track for once.

NASCAR oval with turns 1, 2, 3 & 4 works for me!
(I've always wanted to try that out there...think they could have it re-paved in time?)

2.9 CW would be my preference. The back course is just too much fun to pass up in my opinion.

Me too... I know you have secretly thought about blowing those cones and doing at least 1 lap before you get caught. :P

Misty,
Can you start an opinion poll with the (realistic) options TWS has available to vote on?

I vote for 2.9 CW, but MSC has the weekend before NASA in April and the person who makes the decisions for MSC has decided that we will run whatever config NASA does. Can you say "cheatin' bastich practice!" .

The 3.1 or anything involving turns on the oval would be fun, but incredibly dangerous. The oval is bumpy and bounces cars upward coming out of turns. Exit a turn too high and you'll bounce like a basketball right into a wall. Not only that, but the oval track acts like a razor blade on tires.

The 1.8 is fun for a run session. After that, it gets dull, at least during a DE. Just a couple of drag races with a couple of chicanes. Although, now that I think about it, I can see EV being right about it in a race.

Backwards!

It's fast and a totally fun!

With all of our tracks in our region TWS backwards is #2, Hallett is #1!

;-)

I have only ran it once backwards, but TDE runs in this way once a year.

Ran it in my "Hemi Powered Ram", at a CVAR event... Track manager said if I ever did it again I would be banned from the track FOREVER!!!!

Whoops... I completly missed this thread until Glenn started one on meeting at TWS! Can someone update the schedules on cmc...com and nasa...com?

The schedule at nasatx says TWS in April, but it hasn't been updated to say we're running the 2.9 CW, instead of the 1.8. Can someone fix that? It's caused some minor confusion.
