I just bought a Canon Elura 100 lastnite.
I wouldn't recommend any dvd or hd cam for inside a racecar.
Tape is only of the 3 that can live in the vibration.
Am I wrong?

Agree with Jeff.

Tape mechanisms are a lot more forgiving of vibration and shock than writing directly to a disk.

MiniDv is the ONLY way to go that is affordable.
