Barber is one bad ass track! If I don't take the pinata to the Nationals I might consider that trip. If you go, keep it on the track. Barber will send you a large bill for any grounds repairs that you cause.

macstang
03-20-2007, 09:58 AM
That is a myth. Barber will only charge for armco and guardrails per agreement you will sign upon entering the facility. Prices are stated up front.

Willful negligence may be another story (donuts in the grass lol)

They used to charge for incidental damage, but changed their ways. They used to have ppl sign for paddock spots in order to charge for oil spills etc.

Now, if you spill oil, there is a number to call, and they will send a crew to clean it up.

This event will be NASA's 1st event there.
It is only a little farther than NPR.

It has been a while, probably Hallett. I finally have the car handling right. That track looks way fun, I watched a motorcycle race on Speed yesterday that was held there. It looks like a blast. I am also thinking about going to Heartland Park this year, it has been many years since I have been there.

Alot of chatter on the SE forum about very high car count.
I will register shortly after the nat'l race.
Also alot of chatter about the need for more practice time on Sat.
Haven't heard anything about Fri test day.

got any info on track elevation at Barber? Looking to see if my current dyno would be legal...

Also, how did you guys deal with that at Road Atlanta?...just carry it with you for reference at the track?

jeffburch

The Regional Franchisee (Jim Pantas) owns a dynojet and brings it to the events.
At RA we just ran our current ones
Prolly do the same for Barber.
Dunno the elevation.
Nats we dyno there.

my comment insinuating i was poorly treated by Team Argent Lab was not intended to be directed at Argent Lab. the comment was poorly worded and wrongfully directed. Robert and all the Argent Lab employees have treated me w/ nothing but respect and have always acted in a very professional manner. I hope Argent Lab accepts my apology and that we are able to continue to work together in the future. I view Robert as a friend first and a racer 2nd. the racer/sponsor relationship we have is and will always be secondary to the friendship I see in Robert.
again, sorry for any miss-understanding this may have caused.

This is Red doing the typing...Jerry should be home around the 5th of October and will be in the States until the 25th ish. I cant believe all that about the challange! That is truely amazing! We thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts! We feel a part of both families and have no favoritism towards either region. Dont worry Jeff, I think that Jerry contends that that was still a Texas podium at Road Atlanta, that is who (whom?) he raced with most often. But that is as far as I will go with taking sides since SE owns him now...LOL!

Thanks again everyone for making it possible for Jerry to come home and see me and the kids!! We will see those that are at Barber in just a few weeks!

Jeff,
I am not sure right now what support is avail for the net. I think i remember a bar behind the dash, just above the steering column height.

I still have to pick up the car from Micah's fathers prolly on monday. Good thing i didnt bring any tools to Korea. I will be busy all week prepping. I will check out mounting options for the net and get ahold of you.

I really wanted to stay in a tent. I hope all the rooms are booked around there. I dont know why women are so negative about tents.

Wish we could race with more of yall Texans...that Houston Grand Prix date is looking kinda good timing for me.

You mean Sun., right?... will a pit stop be manditory? I know some race series require a timed stop in order to:

1.) allow for a "safe" refueling
2.) level the playing field for those with smaller fuel cells...

My 22 gallon "monster" cell should get me through without a stop...
Any word on the rules???

i've posted numerous time about giving double points for a 40 minute race. so if you win you get 2 100 scors for the points sheet. now that others are doing it, it sounds like a good idea.

We tried doing that once.....folks got their panties all twisted up.

folk do that no matter what. i think they are twisted all the time and they are just looking for a person other than themselves to direct fault at.

Yes, Sunday.
See http://www.nasa-southeast.com/2007Oct13.jsp

No pit stop.

Can everyone make it without a gas stop? Amber is coming along and I discussed pit stops so we are bringing all the gear necessary for her to go over the wall... I can also bring hand held fire ext... let me know ASAP!

Do I need to lock this one too?

Folks got their panties all bunched up for good reason on this topic.
Last minute changes are a bad thing.
Bring it up at the 5th Annual Texas AI/CMC Banquet (like we did last year) and if we decide to go for a double points race/weekend before the season...then so be it.

(We all decided before THIS season that a double or triple points weekend was not what we wanted.)

Next season let's put a little fun and randomness into it. How about if everyone gets one double points weekend? Roll the dice and that is it? Everyone gets to pick their own before the season? Everyone gets to pick their own after the season? Doesn't matter...as long as everyone has an opportunity, I say throw some gamemanship into it!!! hahaha

What have you been smoking Covini??? There is plenty of ambiguity and randomness in auto racing...no need to add more!

You RA go'ers.....how on earth is a one man crew/driver going to refuel a car in a 60 minute race?!! Interested in hearing ideas!!!!

I am actually glad I decided NOT to go...if I ever do I think it will be in HPDE cause you will get a lot more track time than the racers!!!! Yay!

i dont want a double points weekend.
i want to give double points for a 40 minute race that we run in place of 2 20 minute races. you even list it in 2 separate colums just as if we ran 2 races.
if i win 2 20 minute races i get 200 points for the day. if we run 1 40 minute race in place of the 2 20's i see no problem of keeping the same number of points for the day available - 200 points. there is no disadvantage to those who do not show up as they would have missed the 2 20's for 200 or the single 40 for 200 , it does not matter.

but no double points weekends.

in before the lock.

Geez you guys.

DL, there's a thread discussing all there is to do with an enduro and refueling on the SE forums off the NASA website..

The CCR is enforced here and it takes 2 to refuel. One in /5 attire (Amber) and one with a fire extinguisher standing no closer than 7 feet away (Bev).

I will prolly burn a fuel pump up but I'm going for it. We CMC'rs are gonna grid at the very back. I'm gonna loaf till the 40 min mark and then step it up. See what happens. May start from pit row so wont do the warm up lap. Just wanna get my 55 min.
It's a fun run.

Here is my version of the fuel stop during a 60 min race.

22 Gal fuel cell.

If a stop is required, I'll stop and drink water. If fueling is required, Ill hold an empty can to the fuel filler, then get in the car and drink water. We will find out how it works out, its a "fun run" race, we wont even practice or qualify for it.

David,
If you're refueling and they are following the CCR endurance rules, make sure you get a drip tray, or carpet or something under the refiller. My experience has been that the penalty for spilling far outweighs the extra time it takes to be careful. (People lose races over spilling.)

Also,

This region is run a little bit more attentively and participants seem to really respect Jim and Julie Pantas.
The last event is done this way to get a high level of participation (from racers running for points) and to end the season and crown the champs at the big year end banquet.
Big fun run on Sunday is just the icing on the cake.

Pretty smart in my book.

Randomness would be a freak'n hoot! AAMOF, it's something we've spoken about since AI/CMC got started in TX. Grid by car number.....highest to lowest or lowest to highest. How about by age? Car weight? Year of car? # of kids in each family? Length of marriage? Pick one!

Isn't your (http://www.aicmctexas.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=5785&highlight=sale#5785) car (http://www.aicmctexas.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=8038&highlight=sale#8038) for sale (http://www.aicmctexas.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=15317&highlight=sale#15317) anyway?

60min will be a challenge for my 12 gallon cell, but it should work out just right. I'm with JB....let's start from pit lane!

Matt,
It's obvious that your divorce is a mutual agreement.
Both you and your racing friends think that it's time that she move on.

Bring that AI(X) beast to MSRH and let's have a great season finale'!!!

I will be in Houston without a doubt......I have been having fun with the car again and might even do some drag racing with it next weekend!!

In houston I will need to get all the socializing done early. I have to be in Divorce court at 9am on Monday after the race....I will do my best to not be grumpy all weekend but will have to jet out as soon as I can to get home and get some rest. It's starting to get to be a lot of work to stay in front of all you clowns on track!!! :P

And for the record....NOBODY broadcast who the champions are for at least 60 days afterwards! Can't add value to the car once it becomes regional AIX champ!!!
