The president's effective tax rate was 19%, compared with an effective tax rate of 14% for 2010 for the probable Republican presidential nominee, Mitt Romney. The campaign hasn't released Mr. Romney's 2011 tax return.

Good for Romney- clearly can manage his own money - not sure he can mine, but clearly better than Obama...no reason any of us should be paying more than 14% effective rate if a) just 50% waste eliminated and b) budget balanced year to year. Canada has a lower effective tax rate than the US does...

    What's your point?

Current tax law gives a break for long term capital gains versus "ordinary" income; but the real question is how much is enough? What's the minimum amount ANYONE with "ordinary" income should pay in federal income tax? It's certainly NOT zero.

And don't get me started on private real property ownership when you have to rent it back from the State every year..

Watched the RM boys run at PPIR in Colorado. Great racing and great food. Tommie is still fast, with Cody, RayBob and Chris giving him some challenges. Had 17 AI and CMC cars. Pretty good turnout. No contact.

I guess the point is that our fearless leader in Washington is complaining that no one pays enough taxes, & then he only pays 19% ?

Seems contradictory, but what do I know.
