I don't disagree that ditching the cats would be "better", it's simply a matter of time & priorities. Only so much time to work on the car and there are other things I need to get done. Loading the car on the trailer, taking a day off from work and hauling it to an exhaust shop to get all the pieces cut, fabbed, & welded in just isn't high on the list right now. It is on the list though...it'll get done this season just not this month.

The oil will be changed this month however. Any tech on the red bottle of Redline vs the blue bottle?

Motul 15/50-Patterson recommended it to me. What I have used and had analyzed and all was great. Plus it smells great.

And Glenn's problem isn't so much the going off as it is the coming back on.

I would have preferred he just went off track.

    I think DF is bi-polar.

You just never know which DF is going to show up

What is everyone using for motor oil? My LS1 oil temperatures last summer have me concerned. (I know, I know, religion and politics aren't as bad as motor oil discussions!)

Bryan - are you paying about $11.99 a quart for the Motul?

This Motul competition oil is used by Turner Motorsports but is $15/quart.

Pennzoil says that the American LeMans Ferraris use off the shelf 10-40W Ultra Euro Formula at about $8.50/quart. It will also be used by the Penske Indycars.

Casey - what Redline are you using?

Does anyone use Mobil 1? I've heard some talk about engine failures and that has me concerned since I am using it. Of course the '07 Mustang did 40 track days with it...

    Any other suggestions?

And while I'm at it, how often to you change your oil and/or filter? I could get Ford Racing filters for the Mustang, any suggestions for the Camaro?

I usually change my oil twice a season. Using AMSOIL 25k Mile oil and filter in my 4.6L. I know the Mosty's do as well, and so do Darren and Mason I think...

I use M1 and have since 1998 in my 450rwhp/420rwtq LS1 Camaro. All my engine builders always ask what I'm using and tell me to keep using it.
I use the 15-50 Performance Oil. I pay around $20 for a 5 qt jug.

I use an A/C filter. I change my oil every other event (overkill - I know). I change the filter then as well since it is pretty cheap.

I use M1 cause all but 1 track we run has a Walmart w/in 10 minutes and they always have it. This is in case I need to re-fill my system for whatever reason. This also prevents me from having to carry 8 qrts w/ me all the time. I do keep a couple inthe trailer all the time.

What is the temp your worried about? Do you have an oil cooler?
