Seriously - if you can ever make it to the Nats as a competitor, IMO, it's worth the experience. Drama and all.

My own drama and "roller coaster" ride at nationals aside, I enjoyed the Summer Shootout at Hallet more. From a party standpoint they're both great. From a competitive standpoint it would have been great to be able to call myself "Champ" but I value a good performance at Hallet even more. There is just so much talent that shows up at Hallet every year from the various regions it is truly amazing. If you can do well at the NASA Hallet event, you should really be proud of yourself.

OH - if you do go to nationals, don't bring an LT1.

no one writes about the non-drama events (which is 99.9% of what goes on) because it really isn't "news worthy". It'd be like writing about how the sky is blue, or driving race cars is fun, or...

Mid-O is worth driving. It's a track that separates the drivers from the hacks.

You have to admit...that after the past two years of dyno debacles.... you would be pretty nervous when your cars rolls on it now.

If you are legal on Tuesday-Friday, I am not sure what esle you could do to guarantee yourself to be legal on Saturday.

There have been HP DQ's every year. Last year was big cause it was a car owned by the Director DQ'ing it.
My money says folks are not following the dyno cert process to the letter and the result is pop'ing over. Combined w/ the wrong expectation of all dyno's should read the same as others (down to the last HP), and folks just cutting it too close, you get this result. My car made 218hp the last two years I attended Nat's. I just don't push the limits there as I know I'm in unfamiliar surrounding (dyno/scales). To me, the stakes are just too high.
Don't get me wrong, I've pop’ed over. But not since the post season DQ I got back in 2005.

    Sorry to get off topic.
I look back at every National event I attended, and loved every minute of it. From learning Mid-O in a total downpour in 2006, to the cold in 2007, to the flood of 2008, to the why in the hell did I follow Al to Miller in 2009. 2006 was the best cause it was such an unknown. 23 drivers and almost none of us knew one another. It was funny to look over and say "That is Brad Simpson?" or whoever. Think of stuff like this like life experiences. Everyone should go at least once.

From KO on the national board...
    First pull 256/306
    Last pull 268/316
    Average ended up 262/314
Makes the second pull about 262/319

Most air filter companies don't even claim a gain of 12hp/10ft*lbs... except the Tornado.
