A larger comitment either money wise or time wise.
I am not racing so my vote doesn't really count, but more than six events is a real challenge on time, money, and commitment. I was never a fan of more than six events per year.
Would a 25% drop be a suitable alternative to killing two specific events on the calendar?
Dunno, thoughts are we as a group will look weak and have less bargaining power for track time/own run group if we flat blowoff two specific events as a class. I think with 25% drops we can all do the 6 events and have the flexibility to choose which events to make.
On the downside less popular options like NOLA and MSRH on labor day weekend are ripe for slackers like me to jump ahead on points while most everyone else would skip.

I like 6 with the option of 8, 8 will be hard for me to pull off with work/family/etc.
I agree with James and even if you do not have to go to all the events to stay in the points. What happens when only two or three cars show up at an event because there are so many? With only six race weekends most can make all of them and all of us try to make those six. With eight almost no one will make all of them (in CMC) and it could spread us all out. JMHO. Plus now it looks like several guys bring new rubber to every event. SO if you want to try and stay up front you can spend $7500.00 per year on tires alone. Our little grass roots racing for guys on a budget running CMC (partly due to CMC 2) could be getting out of hand. When I first started racing Glenn told me he figured $1000.00 per race weekend........now we spend that on tires.

Do we want to pick 5-6 events to be "points" events? That is certainly something we can all agree upon. There is nothing in the series rules that dictates which races are points races.
Per the CCR (Sect 22.1),
"Season points systems are controlled by each Region, and may vary. Each Region reserves the right to place
restrictions on any part of the season points system, and set a minimum class size, if necessary."

So increasing the drop % is a good option. But like jerry said, that will thin the heard for a per event car count.
25% will cover 2 full weekends.
6 events is the better answer from what I hear in this forum.
Perhaps the best place to ask is on the NASA National site in the Texas forum. See if other groups have the same complaint.
