    Nationals Tire Cheating

What is going to be done to prevent tire cheating at nats? IE treating the tires with some chemical to soften it up, etc.
For spec miata you have to get the tires from Toyo (at COTA) like the pros do, you drop your wheels, they mount and balance them, toyo bucks are accepted for payment.

that tire softening snake oil crap in a can is nothing to worry about. We tried all kinds of tricks in the miata days and none of it makes u any faster. It works for drag racing but not on a road race tire. It actually made a friend of mines tires more slippery plus it wears off in a couple laps (which was a good thing). Not worth worrying about. And there is no way to police that anyway. Unless u buy tires off the truck like you were saying and you pay a small fortune to have them do it all for you.

I'll get a few bottles of this to pass around the pits at nats so we can all try it.

Guess we can all compare Saturday times to Sunday times if all start thursday..... lol. Is it cheating if everyone does it together?

Dan used to use it on his used Formula V tires to try and get them back closer to new. I'm not sure it worked that well back then. I'm pretty sure it won't do anything good to a modern new tire. I'd be curious if it added some life back into our used tires?

Also, if you bring it to the track, you are doing it wrong. It's a multi day process of coating and drying. I promise I won't protest anyone who applies this to their tires at the track...

I nominate Richard, he's got the perfect sense of smell for this task.
