All right so I am running into a wall on this one. What I thought (the stupid move was thinking) would be a simple issue has me a bit perplexed. I thought my alternator was bad so I replaced it (another dumb move, not testing it). Slapped it on and then realized I am still not getting a charge.

Excited wire not plugged in it is putting out 7.4volts

With it plugged in it is putting out while idle is 3.1

While idle the exciter wire is putting out 11.7 volts

Everything shut off and the multi meter to the hot side and grounding it on the body I get 7volts.

Battery has worked its way down to 11.8 so I dropped it off to charge back up and pick it up in the morning. I thought about jumping from the hot to the plug but the hot wire only has around 7 volts anyways. If the resistor was out on. The excited wire then I would be getting 0 volts on it. At this point I am stuck.

I checked the ground, pulled both ends and ensured there was a good clean and solid connection.

I am hoping someone can provide some guidance so I am not just spectating next weekend.

Thanks
