    Match-balancing a flywheel...

Anyone know of a place that can duplicate a flywheel's balance?

Wayne Calvert tweaked the balance of the flywheel when he balanced my engine. Now that I'm replacing that flywheel with an aluminum one, I'd like to duplicate that on the new one.

Is it a zero balance flywheel? If so, anyone can do it. I understand the "perfect" way, but it really shouldn't matter.

    No -- 50 oz-in.

20g of missing material at 5.5" radius at 6000 RPM is 1100 kg of force, according to Jack Hidley.

Dunno of that's significant, but it sounds like a lot.[/quote]

The material removed is likely relative only to that flywheel. Surely it doesn't mean that the same needs to be done to any flywheel you use w/ that crank.

The actual amount of material removed won't necessarily be the same, but the total imbalance should match.
