When I went through this inspection all the guy did is a visual to see if it was all connected correctly and tested that the light/brake/turn lights worked.

Heads up that the trailer inspection rules have changed (for the better):
Senate Bill 1001
Effective Sept. 1, 2017
SB 1001 changes the actual gross weight or registered gross weight for a trailer, semitrailer, pole trailer, or mobile home from 4,500 pounds or less to 7,500 pounds or less to be exempt from vehicle inspection.

Certainly makes things easier for those of us with an open trailer...
If anyone was curious, the rumors are it's all about the money. As in, so many people with small trailers weren't renewing their license tags because of the inspection requirements that the state was loosing money. It's always about the money...
