Thread: Fire system plumbing

The key instructions installing mine were to be sure not to spray the drivers eyes with suppressant and that getting the driver covered was most important to buy time so he can get out. The other guidance was there is not enough suppressant in any of the systems to contain a ruptured fuel tank that is burning. I only have two nozzles, one on my torso and one on the engine. With more nozzles I would add drivers legs and maybe behind the seat. If the fuel tank is behind the axle I think a caged fuel cell is important. One design I hate to see is a fuel tank in the trunk aft of the axle that is exposed to the cockpit. It should really have the rear seat bulkhead/package tray closed out with sheet metal all the way laterally to the quarter panels or close it out with a cover. My prayers go out to Stephen for a speedy recovery.

Can anyone speculate as to how differently this would have turned out if he were wearing a nomex baclava and had had his visor shut?
