The "John McComb" Mustang is my cousin's. About halfway down the page, the right. Helluva driver. '67 A Sedan national champion, in his '66 Shelby Mustang.

The car pictured here is, I think, a different Shelby Mustang. Yes, he had two of them, bought them new from Carroll and raced the s**t out of them both. Sold them both in the last few years.

I think we should all pick famous cars and paint our cars to look like them.
I take dibs on the blue/yellow Penske Camaro.

See that Farimont with monster fender flares?

I recall GM putting out a Monza with a sad V8 and tupperware glued on the side and called it a Mirage I believe ... circa 1978?

I'd like to know where these cars go when they are retired... most likely to a race car museum or private collections, but it would be neat to have some more circulate in vintage races.

Of John's two cars, one car/owner shows up on the vintage circuit, and the other car pretty much stays in that owner's garage.

At the last race I attended at Infineon of these old TransAm cars, I think just about every 60s/70s driver was represented, with the exception of a Donahue car.

These cars go for a big ol' chunk of change nowadays, and not every buyer is willing to risk them in a race or on a track.

Those are some pretty neat pictures. I am sure our pictures will look like that in another 10-15 years.

Next time you talk to Dave Ho, @ NASA HQ (who does all the licensing/memberships) ask him about his ex-Player's Camaro. Dave raced in CMC with an original Player's car. Had all the markings...factory GM badging....very cool stuff. He sold the car and I believe it's still on the West Coast.

Al...got anything to add here?

I think Dave Weirich bought the car.
Ring any bells????

Nothing at all...both of these guys must've been before my time...or my memory is shot.

I love pictures of old race cars. I surf looking for broadcasts of old races too, really good stuff.

I bought my 68 coupe in 1988, I thought I would miss it more when I sold it last year but I have not.
