I know I asked this before, but I cannot find the post on here.

How do I convert my Digital 8 video tape from my Sony digital handy cam to my computer? I have a USB connector, but my computer doesn't see my camera. I am sure I am missing some software or something.

Please help the over 40 crowd.

USB is usually for transferring stills on the memory card only.
Analog cameras normally require an analog connection out (A/V RCA's) to a capture device on your computer. AKA "A to D converter."
I prefer the Plextor ConvertX line of devices. (converts in hardware)
Also, the Dazzle's are available everywhere (converts in software).
I'd look in the manual for a definitive answer

Okay, I have looked through my manwell, The only reference, as you stated above, was to use the USB cable for images.

The software that came with my camera is only good up to Windows 2000. I am currently running XP Pro.

Will my camera still work and transfer to PC?
If so, what do I need to purchase to make it so?
Plextor ConvertX ?

Yes.
Fast computer? Dazzle will do.
Slow computer? Plextor is a Cadillac hotrod regardless.
Bestbuy, Frys or Circuit City.
Video Capture device. Software will come with it.
You will need a little support/help.
I only know how to drive a ConvertX so........

This site has alot of tech http://www.videohelp.com/
Good luck.
