I am starting a build on a LS-1 Trans Am. I would like to decide now whether to build it as an AI car or a CMC2 car. Any thoughts on this choice? Are many people running the CMC2 class in this region? I also run a lot pf PCA events, so I want the car to be as fast as possible but still fit a NASA class other than AIX.

Thanks guys.

there is one LS1 F-body CMC-2 car already. he wil have his first race in Feb.
there are a few (3?) LT1 F-body cars looking at moving the CMC-2 for some if not all of 2008. build for CMC-2 now and you can always move up to AI if you want later.
there were like 5-6 CMC-2 cars at Nationals '07. not bad for a first year class.

That's what I was thinking. I cannot do a whole lot to the car for CMC-2, so I should not have to change much twice to move into AI.

How much is a cage with nascar bars on both sides? Do you have some pics that you can send me of the cages you guys have built?

Rayman,

Long time no see! We did the BMWCCA comp school and some time trials together about 2 years ago. Martin and I had wondered about you.

Was that you in the white Trans Am at the TWS PCA event this month?

Glen, that looks great. I'll give you a call.

Hey Misty,
How's Martin doing? It wasn't me in the white TA. This one is red (my wife says it looks like a girl's car). I blew the Corvette up for the last time, and had to lick my wounds fo a little time. I bought this car in perfect condition for 5k. It has 140k on the odo, but is in great shape. I figured I could get it on the track pretty cheap. Are you still running AI? Is Martin still running the BMW?

AAAAaaaaaa, those -2 cars at Nats were just normal cars that jumped ship.
Look at their lap times.
Defectors.

lap times mean nothing when none of the CMC-2 cars run faster than the top CMC cars.
i have been told that is not the case now as of the last Cali event.

Yeah, I heard one second but haven't looked to verify.

1-1.5 second was the gap between top guys in CMC and true CMC2 cars (an S197 and Flaherty's 4th gen unrestricted), so about 1/3 to 1/2 of the gap between CMC and AI cars.

Sorry to hear the 'Vette is gone. Martin is doing great. I'm still running AI and Martin's running the red, white, and blue BMW. Are you going to be at PCA this weekend at TWS?

The car is completly stock right now. I ran a PCA event down here, and it was ok, but it is pretty work out. I am planning some serious quality time with it after the holidays. Who did the cage in your Camaro? Can you send me some pics of it? thekinmans@the-i.net

Mitch and Glenn built my cage and I have a few pictures of the cage during the build.

They did a great job and I would highly recommend them. I didn't have the money to go all out, so the cage is pretty basic.
