I found a new show on Dish network.
Classic Racers.
Down in the old Rave channels.
9473 Treasure Channel.
It's produced by the Canadian Gov't.
Vintage racers shot in HD.
The episode I caught tonight was at Limerock.
Very nice photography.
They spend alot of time talking to the racers and crew in the paddock.
The next episode is about a 6 hour race of some sort at Spa.
If you have Dish I suggest a look-see.

Jeff, I have Dish but that channel isn't even listed on my guide. I have the 200 package, maybe it's not enough.

Dunno Michael.
I would compare the SD

vs HD

channel lineups and give them a call.

My intrest in racing began in the early 70's watching CanAm at TWS... What a thrill... you could see the tall wings going down the back straight from the infield... you youngsters don't know what you missed... the cars were so awsome with the big, loud V-8s and the "new" wedge design with the hugh wings mounted high above....

Sounds like an exciting site, wish I could have seen some of the old racing with my own eyes. I watch the old videos on the salt flats, NASCAR (back when it was as rugged as AICMC) and I wish I could have experienced it first hand. When I was a kid, my Dad took me to Airshows, and although I loved watching the fighter jets do their thing, there was something about the old P51s that made me think about where it all started. What it was like before Fly-by-wire was invented, and what guys like Chuck Yeager had to go through to learn what the plane could, and couldn't do.

I skimmed through the article posted above and I'm pretty impressed with the pioneering that went on back then. I am part of a generation that has seen a lot of changes, but failed to grasp what it took to get to the 80s. The rest of you old farts know how hard it is to walk to school up hill both ways in the snow. I'm happy they have invented "down hills" since then!
