Ok, I want your opinions here.

I met with a web designer to discuss updating the website.

I asked him to give me a quote on :

1. Creating a driver profile section that each driver could go in and fill out a template, upload a picture & have it available to the public.

Anyone who is registered on the site would be able to add their profile.

Fields that would be filled out:

Name
Age
Birthplace
City I currently live in
Family spouse
Kids ages
Race Series
• American Iron
• American Iron Extreme
• Camaro Mustang Challenge
Occupation
Currently racing
Car #
Sponsors
If I wasn’t racing on the weekend, I would be
Daily Driver
Favorite Track
Favorite Movie
Racing goal for 2008
One thing I would change about NASA Texas
Upload Picture

I want to keep the above fields simple and dont want you guys asking me to add a field that says : Name of cat etc etc.

Profiles would then be organized by Race Series.

2. Home page would be changed: quote from the estimate says :

Improving home page look-n-feel to look more attractive and FLASHY to attract the users. This is very important for your website marketing and first time visitor. Right now it is not attractive.

3. Fixing gallery to allow uploads of video and photos greater than the measly 8 mb currently allowed.

For those 3 things , the estimate is $800.

1. What do you guys think of that? Would you want to divy it up?

I dont mind paying for a chunk of it, but I would rather not pay for all. The 2 sponsors we have currently , dont quite cover the annual hosting etc of the website, so there isnt excess $.

2. He also submitted a more extensive estimate which involves coordinating all of the sign ons through the whole site in addition to what was mentioned above. There are different databases for the different sections and it is kind of a mess.

He would also rework the whole gallery. These things would require a lot more time/money.

Anyways , give me your thoughts....

I think the site look is fine for us... we aren't exactly looking to bring in 10k users like some sites.

Add movie hosting to the gallery, maybe allow a more open "user profile" page for us to upload Real race team bios or links to our own race team homepages.

Beyond that, the sites works just fine...maybe more emoticons...?

Keep it simple stupid!!!

Ok,

Everyone is always crying about marketing or lack of.....

It would seem like a driver profile page would be a good tool to use for individuals & yet hardly anyone is using the driver profile page on the main page?

I feel like an old jewish mother;

"Adam, you never caaaauuul me anymore......"

I'd do mine 'sept the last question is gonna get me in more trouble.
Also, marketing us is way over hyped.
Pie in the sky.

When you log in, you have the ability to edit your profile and everyone elses... That isnt good is it??

From what I have seen over the last year, the site is meeting the primary needs of the active members.

If there is a desire to push the marketing envelope, this (anything to do with the internet - creative or technical) is what I do for a living and I'd be happy to contribute my time to the site at the end of the year, when - hopefully - I am not so crammed with work.

Oh, and I just filled out my driver profile

I don't understand how?

I have to go to the back end to do that.

I just edited JBs to add his favorite movie, and I sure don't have any moderator rights.

this one flew right over my head.

I didn't realize you were talking about the driver profiles.

I sent in a request to the programmer that created that page. Hopefully, its an easy fix.

In the meantime.........quit FN with other people's profiles.
