On the point sheet there is "R/V" next to Team Jordan.
That tells me Jerry is considered the vet.
The points for Team Jordan need to be broke down correctly for just Jay.
So it's somehow down to Jay vs. Gary.
Something tells me Gary is ROTY.

Why isn't Jerry considered a Rookie?

Why isn't Jerry considered a Rookie?

I am not 100% the rules, but I think he may have raced too many times last year.

I was told that if you start the season still carrying your rookie plates....then you are still eligible, but if you have raced more than 8 races then you are not eligible for rookie status.

nothing is set in stone, and we havent talked about it yet.

shooting from my hip, half of Team Jordan points is Jay's and half Jerry's.

I had less than 8 races from the previous year. How come I'm not a rookie? I don't know what I'm doing....

I ran four races at Texas World and two at MSRH in 07. Jay ran one or two races last year is all. I was still supposed to be running the orange plate on my car at the start of this year. I did not understand why I had a V after my name. If it goes to the guy with the most points it belongs to Gary. Here is a copy of last years points.

Juan Pablo Montoya was ROTY in NASCAR last year. As I recall, he had spent a couple seasons in a different class prior to that.

my guess is NASCAR will not have an issue w/ recognizing your Rookie status then. you had your chance, and it was back in 2005.

NASA CCR-
13.2 Rookie Status
Any NASA Provisional License holder is defined as a “Rookie,” and will remain so until
they have finished eight ( 8 ) races without significant incident. Additionally, the Race
Director may place any driver on Rookie status. Rookie status is simply a designation,
and implies no punitive reflections or consequences. A Provisional License holder that
fulfills the requirements, and receives a competition license, may still carry the “Rookie”
title, as defined by this section. A driver on Rookie status must comply with all of the
following (sections 13.2.1 and 13.2.2).
