Well you do have mad burn out skills Rob :)

Man that pilon pivot was as tight as it could be and his entry speed was not too shabby! Damn nice driving...course we used to do that every Friday night growing up

My street Mustang got treated to a new set of tires this week, but not before I did enough donuts, burnouts, and drifts in the parking lot at work to take the old ones down from about half tread to almost nothing. Should've shot some video - dammit.

Mmmmmm - donuts!!!!!!

Maybe a burnout contest at the upcoming TWS event is in order. Misty?!?!?!

Hmmmm...Martin's 38th birthday is the weekend following our December 13 & 14 event. I'm planning a surprise bbq at the track for him on the 13th. Consider this your invitation. Maybe y'all can entertain him while dinner is being set up after cold track. Let me check with Bill Mather, but I know he enjoyed the burnout contest on July 5th and may be willing to let us use hot pits again for it. I'll give more details, when I have them.

From what I understand, it took two full days and 4 sets of tires to get just that couple minutes of video. Lots of editing going on too especially in the "box". Given those resources, I could easily duplicate those moves as could many of you. AWD with 600hp can make a blind monkey look like he has skills. do that same shit in a CMC car and I will shake your hand!

So, how do RA1's work in Burn out contests? I have a couple V710's I could sacrifice as well and I know the sound won't be beat! 8) Funny thing is I might have to buy a cheap set of rear brake pads because the last 3 burn outs I have tried to do at the end of the race haven't been real successful and nearly embarrassing. I used to be able to do awesome ones back in the Drag Racing days...but race tires and brakes sort of put a damper on those moves!

I wasn't sure how Love was going to pull it off in July in his car, but he did a couple of really nice burnouts. I thought he was going to get to take home the prize money. Wouldn't even attempt it in my car anymore. Used to have a line lock for drag racing.

1. Go to Autzone and buy stock rear pads...
2. Set your prop valve to full front...
3. Enjoy the show...

Weak? I was not going for a top fuel burn out. It hooked pretty good after I let off the brake.

Our little local car club used to get together every year for a burnout day.

This was from several years ago, but we have done many more since then.

here is one of the best compilation videos a guy did for one of our cruises back in 2003.

I got in one good burn out at about 1:42 and was dealing with a slipping clutch. Gave up drag racing shortly after that when I started having to tow the car around after breaking stuff...

Oh, and Marshall....what is a..."brake proportioning valve"...? I have never had one! ;)

that was driver error....and ABS kicking in too much.

with ABS, why would one need a proportioning valve?

If you didn't have a prop valve, you would keep the ABS constantly "working" and that isn't as efficient as an ABS system that doesn't have to constantly dial out rear brake lockup.

DUDE!!! delete this post... Jason and his buddies have a ton of fireworks and all of them have paintball guns.... If I find out he has seen this he will never borrow the Neon, again!!!

Are you kidding?!? I can get EVs and workers for free if they get to shoot paintballs at us. That just leaves track rental.

1.8 or 1.9 Mile $3,460 Per 1/2 Day
2.9 Mile $3,640 Per 1/2 Day
Grand Prix 3.0 Mile $4,010 Per 1/2 Day

That would add a new element to lemons races!!!

I remember some of the first events talking about spectators and flag stands throwing lemons at the cars on track. One of the reasons we have a window net even though they weren't required.

Misty...how much to rent the 5spd neon...?

Those rates are unreal (inexpensive)... just our race group NASA entry fees could cover the ENTIRE weekend rental for NASATX... How is NASATX not making a killing at doing this??? (unless it's the insurance cost?)

Weekday rates... higher on weekends and your assessment of insurance rates is correct.... VERY high

Can do that at Riverside annex...or hell, it's summer. A&M's parking lots should be nearly empty on west campus...FREE and NO cleanup!!!!!

I know you're only joking but....
Good luck getting that (gymkhana or drifting) approved by Risk Management. And if you're asking who RM is, they're the guys that went to the top of the charts after Bonfire collapse.

TAMSCC just got the 4-10 split back (huge area for big autocrosses) so I doubt they'll be hosting anything that can jeopardize losing it (again).
