Has anyone bought their Toyo R888's for their CMC 16" wheels?

I have been looking online and found a few places that have a good rate on their 888's but they do not accept Toyo Bucks.
All of the "authorized Toyo Motorsport Dealers" are either overpriced or they won't even order them yet (Vilven).

If you want to use Toyo Bucks it looks like the cheapest I have found is $925 / set to my door. If I wanted them shaved it would likely be almost $1,000.

Is it just me or is this crazy? :?

Trade your Toyo bucks to those buying 275s? Wish I had known you had this dilemma two weeks ago when I bought mine.

Telling a business to spend money they don't have...(guessing this is the issue) isn't going to work....and Phil's knows that Vilven ain't buyin' yet and has jacked his prices.

Buy your tires from PST... Same or better price than Vilven, takes Toyo bucks and supports those that ARE supporting us.

Al, hope you got some 9.5" wheels buddy!!! Those 275's are wide!

also, can someone explain the rules on "trading" toyo bucks? If I send some certs with someone else's name on them, does the dealer still take them? Toyo hasn't frowned on that or screwed the dealer? Just asking!

Thanks.

Steve and I combine our bucks and it hasn't been an issue.

Sorry on the Toyo buck deal Al, it would have been a good deal.

Glenn, I talked to Vilven today and explained that our season starts this month and alot of people still need tires. All she said was sorry, they aren't ordering any for "another month or so". It is frustrating b/c Vilven has been done amazing in the past and it seems like their current situation does not support us at all.

Regarding the PST prices, I'm sorry but they seem very high. I would love to give my business to PST but their CMC tire price is $222 / tire. Add the fact that you would either have to pay shipping or go pick them up, and also sales tax makes it alot of $$. If you picked up a set at the track they would still cost $961 / set.
I can get them to my door from an internet company for $840 (they don't take Toyo Bucks though).

I think Toyo Bucks can be traded, sold, or whatever. W/ Vilven I never had a problem redeeming bucks w/ different names.

I found this place on the web, but have no info about them.

http://www.tiredeals4less.com

They list 255/50R16 R888 at $195 each.

I can take Toyo bucks and I can get the tires shaved.

Since Vilven is in a big pinch I have to use a different vendor as well.

If you need tires I will do my best to help.

I have seen them on a set of 9.5" and they are pinched WAY more than the old RA1's... Be ready for a REALLY soft and wishy washy ride. Toyo Recommends they be mounted on 10" rims and 10.5 is ideal to get full contact patch... it will be interesting to see you reaction the first time you toss it into the sweeper!

Must be the reason for the increase in air pressure.

Rob, that is the best place I have found as well.
Jeremy got a set of 255/40/17's to the door for $750.
Marshall got a set of 275/40/17's to the door for $825.

Where did you get those numbers Matt? The toyo site lists 9-11 as ok sizes, with 9.5 in bold. Either way, I'm sure they'll be a lot less wishy washy then the 16s.

The 10" number was given on the AI national site a few months ago when we were discussing the track width issue.

Never driven the 16's but I complained about the RA1's walking around on 9" wheels...my choice to run cheap 9" wheels. Seeing the R888's mounted on 9.5" rims and bulging much more than an RA1 in the same size on a 9" rim just raises big red flags that the tire is too wide for the rim. Hopefully, the reportedly stiffer sidewall deals with that...?

I am going to let you guys go figure it out as I have plenty of RA1's to waste in the mean time.

Toyo is one crazy organization.

My local tire supplier can get me the tires and around $200 or just under....but they are having hell with getting Toyo to let them accept Toyo bucks.

The Toyo Motorsport rep said first that the Toyo bucks were only good for RA1's...and the local store is going crazy dealing with them.

They basically are at a point of giving up, since today they told them to just call Vilven.

Toyo has some idiots working for them.

Also... I have Toyo bucks that expire this month and I guess I may have to pay extra and get them from somewhere so these don't expire.

No way?! WTF? I guess they need to take the R888 out of their mag ads...?! LOL!!!! Call AJ at PST....gets them out of Dallas warehouse in a matter of days, decent pricing.
