I'm starting a search for a new driving suit to replace the hotter 'n hell wool blanket I've been wearing. I'm looking for good protection, one piece, as cool as possible, does not require fire underwear and somewhat budget minded. I know that I will have to spend some money, but $1100 seems like wat too much. Let me know what you think.

This one seems interesting...

all i know is my SPARCO is awsome. it was hard to spend the money at first, but it was well worth it. this one may work out, but if it doesnt, then what are you going to do? get the X-light. do it right the first time.

Contact AJ at PST....if I recall, my Sparco Sponsor 5 or whatever it's called was less than $650. He also has quite a few in stock to try on so you KNOW they fit right. Just a suggestion if you can wait till Cresson.

Their $1,000 suit is on for $379 but they only have a Red XL left. This is the same one that Jeremy bought in Blue a few months back and it is very nice.

I'll never do another mail order for a suit.

Too many variances in sizing. I highly recommend that you try on a few.

Well thanks, John.

Rob,

There is a Smileys in The Woodlands, you could "shop" there and try on what they have... their prices are high but you could get an idea on fit and then buy online with confidence...

I bought my suit at that very Smiley's. It's a "Finish Line" made in Canada. I love it: it's a reasonable weight, no Nomex underwear required, and the price was reasonable. In fact, I bought my Simpson shoes and G-Force driving gloves there; I found their prices quite reasonable, and no freight.

If you have a good idea of your size, ordering online is an excellent way to go. Especially when various places are closing out certain makes/models of suits.

My Sparco was an eight or nine hundred dollar suit, marked down to $350, IIRC. It was a seasonal close out.
