A local guy got his hands on a lot of GPH-wides and has been selling them on the F-car boards.

He told me that if 5 of you guys wanted one, he would sell them for $159 each.

Let me know if you want one.

They range in price from $179-199 ... it's the full retail blister pack with all the mounts, extensions cases ... So yeah it's $20 off.

The only way I figure this will work is if you order one via PayPal.

He's been asking $169 for these, so to get the discounted $159 price, put "mitchntx" in the subject so he will know it's for you guys.

He needs to sell 5 to us to get this pricing and as soon as he does, bingo ... game on.

Here's the Paypal address ...

stealthjr@verizon.net

So send this guy $159, make sure my username is in there somewhere and as soon as he gets 5, he'll make it happen.

If he sells 5 in short order, I will arrange to pick them up Monday and have them at Cresson next weekend.

Make sure to buy some extra SD (2gig) cards, unless you want to download the vides after each session (~1gig in size for 30-40min).

Also, have some extra AAA batteries or rechargable ones ready to go.

Video is serious bizniss and don't want you all to miss anything videographic opportunities while on-track. :D

Don't forget to get some hero (driver) shots too!!! 8)

I am also double checking to make sure this is the version that has the suction cup mount included. He told me it was the $199 retail version which is the suction cup kit.

But, I want to make sure.

I have a Go Pro and have a couple of tips (like EV). The 2 gig card will record 56 mins. 2 gig is the largest card that will work. Put in fresh batteries with every use. Learned that the hard way. The sound is a little muffled but on the good side there is none of the annoying wind noise that makes it unwatchable. Here are a couple of samples with mine.

I found a 6 pack of SD cards through Newegg. They ~$18 for the six of them. I then found a nifty carrying case, numbered the cards and change batteries and card each time.

Make sure you get high speed SD cards.

Because there is no remote start, I start recording before i get in the car and edit the first 10 minutes or so.

Here is the product Robert has in-hand

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n275/wheels662003/mailgooglecom.jpg

It is the GoPro Motorsports wide-angle version. I have confirmed with him that is the version that has the suction cup mount, like I used at MSR-H.

There is a version out there that has a handle bar mount instead and is a few dollars cheaper.

So far, Jay, David and Michael have paid. It takes 2 more to make this happen.

do these REQUIRE an external mic?

BSharp
03-06-2009, 06:03 PM
No, they do not have a provision for an external mic.

mitchntx
03-06-2009, 06:51 PM
And the audio is less than stellar. I run an old mini-DV camera inside the car and use the audio from it.

Guys, there are 3 that have paid. Need a total of 5 to get the $159 pricing. Otherwise, the 3 that have submitted will be dinged for another $10.

And just so everyone understands ... I have zero affiliation with the seller. He just posted up what I thought was a decent price and a couple of you had expressed an interest in this product.

I tried to put the two together.

The GoPro website says this:

Memory: 16 MB internal, expandable to 2GB with SD card (not included), expandable to 4GB with SDHC card (not included) via free software download from GoPro website—available soon

So I guess we will be able to use 4GB cards soon?

This was posted two weeks ago. Looks like they are still working on the patch.

We're still working on the firmware upgrade for the 5mp HERO cameras to support the 4GB SD cards and hope to have it available for download from our website within the next month. You can go to our website and sign up for our newsletter to be notified when it is released. Right now the camera is limited to saving a 2GB file, so if using a higher capacity card and you don’t stop video recording before 56 minutes (2GB) then all will be lost.

We're not sure yet if we'll be able to do a firmware upgrade to be able to save files over 4GB.

Let us know if you have any further questions.

Many thanks,

OK guys ... there were only 3 takers. So the $159 pricing isn't gonna happen.

We have a couple options ...

I will front the $30 ($10 each) and collect then $10 at the track

or

the seller will require you to send another $10 via paypal

or

he will refund the $159 and you can then chose to purchase at $169

I am trying to arrange to pick them up tomorrow.

I bought 2 of these ...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820178200

That gives me 7 cards. After each race, I just put a new one in, along with fresh batteries.

The files are so large, it can take a few minutes on a USB 2.0 port and up to 45 minutes on a USB 1.0 port.

I also bought one of these

I just pick up 2 of these today at Fry's: http://shop4.frys.com/product/4534617?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG

I wasn't sure how "high speed" we needed, so I just got the fastest ones (133x) for $9.99 each. Not sure why these were so cheap. Most the other 130x I saw online were $20-$30 each.

I'm sure I could find cheaper ones online, but I figured I didn't have time to order online and get it before Friday.

At MSRH, I didn't have my camera mount just right (too high).
Today while attempting to get it so, my coveted little Canon Elura 100 died. I'm in the process of getting it to a service center.
Meanwhile I pick up a Canon FS100 (on loan  ) from Walmart.
This camera is perfect (solid state memory, megapixel) but the external mic is inside the flip out LCD and has no filter thread for wide eye.
I will return it Monday as I just ordered a Canon HF100.

You don't need a fast card for the GpPro cameras!

A simple 2GB size SD card is all you need, untill the 4GB firmware upgrade is released stay away from the SDHD cards.

This is the percfect card for the GoPro, I have these and I am giving them away with camera purchaces!

2 free cards with purchace of camera and 2 sets of Durcell Ultra batteries.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/469886-REG/Kingston_SD_2GB_2GB_Standard_Secure_Digital.html

When the 4gb Firmware upgrade is ready, I will be giving away a 4GB card!

Yes, I am!

My first order was placed this week, I should have them by next Friday.

I have six Motorsport Wide Kits on the way, two are already sold... so four are avalaible. I will be ordering more soon and that order will be twelve kits.

As an Authorized Reseller for GoPro, I am contracted to sell at the price they set and I can't go lower. So, to help out with that I am offering some free stuff... two 2GB cards and two sets (4) AAA Duracell Ultra batteries.

(When the firmware is updated to allow the 4GB cards, I will be changing the deal from two 2GB cars to one 4GB card.)

Someone that takes delivery at the track can begin using it that weekend without trying to source SD cards or worry about batteries.

Contact me if your interested!

I got my video's uploaded a few weeks back and am finally getting to edit them.
The problem I see is that my go-pro file is entering as an .avi file. All my mini-DV files come up as mpg files and edit perfectly. I use Pinnacle Studio 9.

I guess there is a simple fix for this but I know nothing about computers and am not sure where to go from here.
I would like to get some footage posted from Cresson from R4 from the "Wirtz" cam but need some help.
Thanks all!
