I have @ 10 guns that I need values on... some never fired, most still in boxes:

Rifles in boxes never fired:
Winchester Big Bore 94 375cal
Winchester 94 22mag
Remington 700 6mm

Pistols with boxes may have been fired:
Colt 45s (2) Mark IV and Gov Issue
Colt Python 357s (2) 4 and 6 inch
Beretta 9mm
S&W .22 cals (2) models 41 and 17-4

THOUSANDS of rounds of ammo... custom loads...

Is there a limit on how many rounds of ammo you can carry at one time???? :? :? :?

Colt Python 357 is a great revolver. DPS carried them for years. I bought my dads when they issued them new Sig Sauer 45's. I sold the Colt and purchased his Sig when he retired. I wish I could help you David but my knowledge is only in shotguns.

www.gunbroker.com can get you some "market" values of things....

Post pictures here if you can.

I too am looking for .45 and 9mm....stocked full on .223 and 7.62x39. Burch, call Skip Smith if you need ammo or "fun" stuff...he's a class 3 dealer now as well as a glock dealer.

If you a looking to sell, I might be interested in the 4" .357 Python, maybe the beretta if it's a 92FS with high cap mags.

Might consider the remington 700 if it has ammo and black and stainless.

Colt .45's....I am guessing they are 1911's, gov't issue? Might get one of those for my dad.

Course, if I buy anything I have to say no to nationals! Good thing I have plenty of stuff to keep me entertained for now! ;)

David, I asked a gun broker friend of mine to help out. Here is his response.

============================================

I'll do my best (and tell you what I'm not sure on). I found some auctions for a few of them and put the links under the weapon. If I didn't note a price, I don't know and can only guess on the auction (though a friend has a "blue book" and I can try to check more when I see him tomorrow).

These auctions are all for used ones, but the new ones will often be worth more, as will a gun with a box and paperwork. So, you can use them as guidelines, but maybe not the final word.

Winchester Big Bore 94 375cal (new in the box, this one might command a really good (fairly high) price)
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=128803855

Winchester 94 22mag (the auction is for a 22 Long, not a mag, a mag should be worth a bit more)
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=128781252

Remington 700 6mm (There are tons of 700's, I'd need more info, but here's one I found, send me pics of anything you can so I can try to tell which 700 it is (such as an ADL, or BDL, or any number of others)).

Do the colts say "National Match" or "Gold Cup" on them? There are several grades, but collectors LOVE colts. So, I'll give you some links, but the values vary wildly and some options make a gun worth a "fortune" instead of just $900 (or $700). You'll typically do well selling colts. Search for "Colt Mark IV" on this site and look at the auctions that come up. I've sold lots of stuff here myself.

Colt Python 357s (2) 4 and 6 inch (Pythons tend to bring "BIG" or even "HUGE" money. They are no longer produced and have an absolute cult following. They are known for being very nicely made and very tricky to keep running properly. Any Python owner seems to know a good gunsmith if he shoots it often, but owners don't care, they will give up a lung and their first born for these things. Typically $1,000 is low on a decent condition python and I've seen $1,400+ out of them. Bright stainless guns are rare and more valuable. If those are unfired, lightly fired and have a box and papers, they could be worth a good bit more than you see here. Unfired could make them worth a TON of money.)

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=128771763 ($1001, reserve not met...that may give an idea)

Here's vintage python grips (just the grips) for $1200 asking???

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=129091870

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=128617877 (4" blue, buy it now is $2195)

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=129033324 (Bright stainless $1125 with 3+ days left)

Beretta 9mm That should be a 92 F of FS (If it's a Cougar or something else, let me know). Those seem to trade hands used for $300-475. A really nice one might bring $520, but that's rare. I've owned 4 or 5 of them. Nice guns, reliable and they have many people who just love them. Nothing super valuable, but a good solid duty sized sidearm that you can trust your life to (assuming it's not damaged in some way). Nice guns. My prices are for blued ones (Inox finish is what they call it), stainless are worth a bit more ($30-80).

S&W .22 cals (2) models 41 and 17-4

The model 41 is a roughly $800 pistol new (I can't remember if it's still available, but I looked at buying one on more than one occasion). They have a cult following as well (target shooters). It's a nice weapon. Here's an auction with real bids. Watch where it closes for a better idea of the going price.

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=128374286

As for the 17-4. I found two auctions, asking $500 to $850. No bids on either. You may get that locally, but not online it seems.

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=128744401

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=128913155

Again, S&W's are always a solid weapon, they have a good following and are quality arms. They generally earn good prices, but the .22's (other than the Model 41) suffer a bit. Many seem to think that if they are parting with $750 for a revolver, it better be a .357 or a .44 mag, etc. That seems to be the only thing holding prices down on the .22's. They are fine weapons.

I'll try to get a book listing for you to see if I can get you more info, but I'd need more info on condition, etc (or photos of all of them to try to sort out exactly which models some of them are). Is this an estate or a theft? Just curious. Seems like a inside look into someones personality (lever actions, revolvers and a "mid caliber" bolt action, seems like a bit of a cowboy (it is Texas after all) but these are "working guns" that you use to bring home dinner, or defend the farm). Smiths, Colts and Winchester lever actions are all excellent quality weapons and tend to remain valuable. You can tell a lot about a man by the things in his gun safe. All of these seem to belong together, there are no oddballs in this collection (with the exception of that Beretta). Someone had very good taste.

Let me know if you need more info. You might get online (amazon?) and find the blue book of gun values. I think that's what my coworker has. I'll see if I can get "new/unfired" book on them all for you, or my best guess as to what they are.
