After almost 4 years I am finally getting tired of grease splattering out of my shifter when it gets warm. I have a feeling TWS will get messy.
What suggestions do y'all have for a universal boot?
I have done some looking online and all I seem to find is smaller boots (5"x4") or fancy leather ones for $70. I need something to cover the stock opening that is about 7"x6".

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Poke a hole in a rubber glove and slip it over the top :) Find a rubber floor mat and an exacto knife :)

Here is the one I was talking about....I think. Check the dimensions for what you need.

I just went down to the local Vatozone and they had a Hurst universal rubber boot for ~$15. I used the metal factory square to bolt it down. This is CMC, don't go overspending where you don't have to! :-)

Yup...that's the one. I should have read the previous threads first. Looks like the price went up or you can get just the rubber for cheaper.

Hurst still sells the replacement rubber boot too. Your idea seems a little redneck Todd...you wouldn't last 30 seconds working on Wirtz's car!!!

You're right....it's not of Wirtz or Burch standards, but my shifter looks fine and really isn't cheesy at all. I'll find a pic of it tonight....go cheap, it'll look great!

IMHO - That's what drew me to CMC is the cheap part. It's grassroots racing and for those interested in joining the group only to see the mega-buck cars in the winner circle might be a deterance. Not that I'm dis'ing anyone and do applaud the efforts, but I'm not sure the prize money will help defray the build cost.

LOL!
You guys crack ME UP.
Here's my shift boot.
The one that was (and still is) on the car when I bought it.
Mega-buck OEM shit.

If I was buying new tho, it'd be SFI rated

Agreed....my reference to "Burch or Wirtz" was not to mean that you guys spend megabucks....it was to mean that your cars have such a clean appearance and are well built. (A reference that Landrum used to get when he first arrived...ya'know...before his enduro days.)

It's all about philosophy ...

Some folks prefer to take a running street car and build it DOWN to CMC specs. Nothing wrong with that.

Others prefer to take a basket case and BUILD it UP to CMC specs.

One has a higher initial cost, but less out of pocket to build. The other is cheaper to sourcer, but costs more to build. Both arrive at about the same final cost.

Good point, Mitch.
I think LAW Motorsports were the pioneers in "building up to CMC specs" and I'll always give you guys credit for that.

Jeff....I have to ask....what are the "Less>>>>" decals on your shifter boot?

Just messing around checking out different things, I came across these here

a few different options and price levels if anyone may be looking around for something still.
