Well, for those that always wonder how much does it cost to go to nationals...here it is.

Gas for tow vehicle...over 2800 miles round trip. $698.12. Budget was $800
Gas and additive for race car. Took 45 gallons and a full tank in the car. $147. Budget was $350.
All food for myself, Mosty Lunches for 4 days and food for the return trip home with my dad too. $225.95.

Misc. items which included 2 trailer tires, $130 in parts to rebuild the nose, 100 in brake ducting and 368 for a new strut...$1240.00. Original budget was $300...

Entry fee was 499. Used up 7 new tires but only because 3 got destroyed in the "off". Could have done the entire event on 4 new shaves though...so 880 for tires.

So, grand total of $3690.00 that was all inclusive of tires and brake pads....still need to get under the car and see what else got lunched at the event but things look good so far.

Yeah....it's my last year to go so I'm glad I did well. Looking back, that amount would have covered 5 events in the region, maybe 6, even without instructing and no real carnage similar to the last 4 years.

So, there ya go! If you want to plan a budget to go to MMP next year, with a good bit of "oh shit" room, that should be a good number.

In 2010, I'll crew for food for anyone that goes! The racing experience is priceless!!!

Good info; I really want to make that trip.

It would be awesome if Team AICMCTexas could find a racing fan, independent long haul driver with a car hauler who wants to vacation in Utah and take 8 cars with a couple chase vehicles with trailers for spares and tools.

My Nationals cost:
$5 Airfare
$140 Rental Car
$5 Subway
$20 Keystone Light
$20 Gas for Rental Car
$40 Parking at Airport

$235 Total

I would love to race next year but if that doesn't happen the above scenario is a pretty good fallback. :D

My 2009 Nationals budget = $50. Actual cost = $40. Had to chip in for the Maker's Mark.

Next year, it'll likely increase, as I'm planning to race @ MMP in 2010.
