I need to clear some space in the garage as I have WAY too many wheels!

I am looking to get rid of a set of Konig Villians and one set of R58 cobra R's.

The konig villians are 17x9 and weigh 21 lbs each. They are at least 4 seasons old but are true. Ain't perfect as they have nicks and stains from 4 seasons of racing...$400.

Cobra R's are the good old battleships and are perfect for a set of rains. They aren't all great on paint, but I'm only asking $150 for the set of 4.

Let me know if any interest as I need to get tires off them and can deliver to ECR.

Would like to see these gone to make room for some new goodies!

Thanks!

Also available are a couple of Kumho V710's (275/40/17)...2/3 tread left $100 for the pair. Work like RA1's for any AIX folks looking for cheap tires.

I may want the Konig's but do not have the funds right now. I need to read up on wheels. I was thinking we can run a 17# or maybe it's 19# wheel in CMC2. If it's 19 then these would be perfect. If it's 17 I will look for some closer to that number. Even if I was going to purchase them right now (and the price is verry good so that's not a problem) I have no way to haul them from ECR. I need to build a tire rack on my trailer. I barely have room for my toolbox, spare trailer wheel and two extra race wheels and tires. Michael is looking also since he is moving to CMC2 next year.

The minimum weight in CMC2 is 18 lbs. The closest wheel to this weight (under $500 each) weighs 20-21 lbs.

Yeah, there are a few 20-21 lb wheels out there that are reasonably priced....but to get to the magic CMC 18# wheel in a 17x9.5...I think you have to go the route Shotz did and spend about $600 per wheel...CCW or other is only solution.

Let me know at ECR Jerry... I just love it when old AI car parts make it onto CMC cars!

Here's the fun part. The standard 17 x 9.5" CCW race wheels come in well below the 18# legal CMC weight. When I talked to the manufacturer, they said they could make the wheel differently to come up to the 18# weight.

So, if you are looking for a set of used CCW's from an AI racer, be careful. They probably aren't legal for CMC2. Conversely, if you do pony up the cash for a set of CMC2 legal CCW's, the potential resale market for them is much smaller because a good AI racer doesn't want to pay big CCW money for your heavy ass stuff.

For those who like to exploit unintended loop holes in rules, the hot ticket in CMC2 might be 16# 16x9.5” wheels (maybe only on the rear?). Although, as it’s currently written, there doesn’t actually appear to be a minimum weight for 16” wheels in CMC2. Well the way it’s written, I could make a mathematical case that 16x10” wheels are legal in CMC2.

As I’ve mentioned before, it’s hard to write good rules…

Not really. *edit* scratch that. I think I see what you are saying. The word MAXIMUM comes into play. A max 17x9.5 could lead to the construction of a 16lb 16x9.5 It then comes down to tire availability to use that extra width, which RA1s only offer a max 255 in a 16. So you really don't gain anything. *edit*

7.31 Wheels/Tires
7.31.1 Wheels may be of any construction or material but must weigh more than 16 pounds.
7.31.2 Maximum wheel size is 16”x8”.

8.1 CMC2 Class Specific Modifications
In addition to section 7 above, the following rules apply to CMC2 class cars.

8.6 Wheels and Tires
Maximum wheel size is 17”x9.5” and minimum wheel weight for 17” wheels is 18lbs.

So it looks like your only choices are a 16x8 or a 17x9.5
*edit* yeah, scratch that too *edit*

In nuke world, new procedure writers are rotated in once every 6 months simply because the same pair of eyes and hands on a set of procedures creates error traps due to things like tribal knowledge.

I'm sure similar things occur in space-land
