View Full Version : CMC1 Teardown Party - NW Houston - Sunday Nov. 7

The time has come to tear down the old car. I'm getting pressure to get it out of its current space, plus I need to move forward with the new build. So, I'm looking for some help this coming Sunday, Nov. 7. I will host a Teardown Party at an indoor/air conditioned shop with a lift, forklift, etc. The goal is to remove the major components including damaged sheetmetal, drivetrain, suspension, gas tank, etc. and put it all in a container for use in the new car. I need two or three volunteers. The location is near 290 and Beltway 8. My cell number is 281-413-1948. Thanks.

With regard to the new car - I managed to combine my older son's fascination with fire and my love for cars and use a propane torch to remove the sound deadener. With the two of us in the car, it went surprisingly well.

Can I bring my new plasma cutter?

Not sure I can get over there but it sure would be fun. Take pictures so the next sucker to do the video has some.

Got my new cage about 95% complete this past weekend thanks to help from Mitch. I'll be doing the same in a week or two. I need to have one of these as well.

Bring the cutter, we'll chop the whole car into little pieces.

Well you didn't say anything about leftover beer from Nationals. Learn how to sell Liebbe! Nothing was said about drinks, music, or Mosty popping out of the trunk wearing a thong and hitting everyone with a tire iron ala The Hangover!
Wish I could make it.

I was trying to gage the ones who would show up to work and weed out the party whores. But I am planning to provide lunch and dinner to those who come out. Since it is on company property we can't drink alcohol during the process. I think we also have a sexual harrasement policy forbiding anybody popping out of the trunk in a thong.

Please in the future clarify that you meant Michael... I wouldn't want his image to improve due to lack of clarity. :)

Yeah, we did. ;)

Rob - you have to save a decent chunk of the original #1 car to hang on the wall. Best damn souvenir a race car driver can have.

I was thinking the driver's side door would be the souvenir.

Thanks to Dave, Wade, Wayne, Gary, and Todd for volunteering to help.

This will happen at my company's location: Carr Engineering, 12500 Castlebridge Drive, Houston, 77065. It is near the intersection of 290 and Eldridge Parway behind Lone Star Chevrolet. It is an old car dealership with red tile roofs.

I will be there about 8 am with a couple of dozen doughnuts, but no coffee. I will also order pizza for lunch if we want to do that. There is also a locker room if you want to bring a change of clothes.

Thanks again for your help. My cell phone is 281-413-1948 if you have any questions.

Rob, do we need to bring any tools? I should be able to make it for a couple of hours.

It would probably be helpful. I see us breaking into groups like while the car is on the lift, a couple would work on exhaust removal, others on steering rack, gas tanks, engine, etc. I also anticipate others standing around criticizing the workers and having fun but we can take turns at that.

Wade - you can have your wheels back if you want them. :D

I want to thank Gary Robertson, Wade Zimmer, Jeff Tilton(?), Wayne Neary, Dave Francis, and my son William for all the help yesterday at the Teardown Party. I would have never gotten that far without your help. This is the reason AI/CMC Texas is the best group in the world.

He's MUCH faster than Dave Neary and William was quick to point out that it's /lib-by/ and not /lee-bee/.

I propose a rule update... when you win a race you get to carry the test dummy from Rob's shop. Otherwise we'll just let him lay around the paddock like <insert favorite race here>.

Glad we could help Rob! I was too busy working to take pictures, but I think Dave got a few

You need to be working on your new ride _every_ day at lunchtime! No excuses in that nice insulated building with a lift. We want to see you at MSR!
